Two title fights set for UFC 215

Big news surfaced Thursday morning regarding two title fights. UFC President Dana White informed TSN this morning that UFC 215, which is set to take place at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, on September 9th, will feature a main event scrap between UFC flyweight kingpin Demetrious Johnson, and top contender Ray Borg, with a women’s bantamweight showdown between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko set for the co-main event.

Demetrious Johnson

Johnson vs. Borg is a fight which looked highly unlikely at one point in time. After Johnson agreed to the fight, he and Dana White were involved in a very bitter, and very public, spat which saw Johnson release a lengthy letter regarding the matter, in which he accused Dana White of threatening to shut down the flyweight division if he were not to renege on his agreement to fight Ray Borg, and sign to fight TJ Dillashaw.

The co-main event scrap between Nunes and Shevchenko, of course was recently scheduled for UFC 213 earlier this month. Unfortunately, the day of the fight, Nunes was hospitalized after reportedly feeling ill, and the fight was called off.
