UFC Oklahoma City Results: Dricus du Plessis defeats Kamaru Usman (Highlights)

Tonight’s UFC Oklahoma City event is headlined by a highly anticipated middleweight showdown between Dricus du Plessis and Kamaru Usman.

Du Plessis (24-3 MMA) will be competing for the first time since losing the promotion‘s middleweight title to Khamzat Chimaev 11 months ago at UFC 319. Prior to that lopsided decision defeat, ‘DDP’ had strung together 10 straights wins, which included victories over Sean Strickland (x2), Israel Adesanya, Robert Whittaker and Darren Till.

Meanwhile, Kamaru Usman (21-5 MMA) most previously competed in June of 2025, where he scored an impressive unanimous decision victory over Joaquin Buckley. That win snapped a three-fight losing skid for ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’, who had previously suffered losses at the hands of Leon Edwards (x2) and Khamzat Chimaev respectively.

Round one of the UFC Oklahoma City main event begins and Dricus du Plessis quickly takes the center of the Octagon. He throws out a high kick which Usman blocks. Kamaru circles to his right. He feints with a takedown. ‘DDP’ lands a couple of nice low kicks. He leaps into the pocket with a knee that misses the mark. A kick misses, but a second one connects. Usman slides to his right and lands a jab. ‘DDP’ just misses with a left high kick. That had shades of Leon Edwards on it. Dricus du Plessis with a jab and then a right hand over the top that partially connects. A power right hands stuns Usman. His legs went wobbly for a minute there. Du Plessis with another nice jab and then a low kick. Kamaru Usman with a low kick. ‘DDP’ replies with a right hand over the top. Usman with a nice straight right. Good shots by both men in the pocket. Usman with an overhand right that connects. He looks to force the clinch. Both men land knees. Usman’s might have been low. The referee breaks them up and we restart. 30 seconds remain in the opening round. Usman with a jab. ‘DDP’ with a nice left high kick. That’s been there since the opening moments. A nice right from Dricus du Plessis. He ends the round with a body kick.

Round two of the UFC Oklahoma City headliner begins and DDP lands an early knee that rocks Kamaru Usman. Another good knee followed by a combination. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has taken some damage now. Another knee. Usman dives for a takedown. Dricus du Plessis stuffs it. Usman looks to clinch but Dricus breaks free and circles out to range. A nice combination from the former middleweight champion. ‘DDP’ continues to punish Usman with knees and straight punches. Another big shot. Usman says it was a poke to the eye. We stop but quickly restart as it was a legal blow. Dricus attacks with a right and now a 1-2. He rocks Usman who hits the deck. He pops right back up but ‘DDP’ is all over him. Usman looks to clinch but Dricus du Plessis gets out to range. He immediately charges in with a 3-punch combination. A good knee and then a left hand from the former middleweight champion. Now a big jab. The fighters trade shots to close out the final 10 seconds.

Round three of the UFC OKC headliner begins and Dricus du Plessis lands a nice left kick to the body. A good combination from ‘DDP’. Kamaru Usman answers with a jab. He’s going to need more of those. A good right from Usman. ‘DDP’ counters instantly with another knee up the middle. A good 1-2 from Dricus. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ is landing some strikes here and there as well. Du Plessis with a head kick that partially connects. Now a pair of body kicks. Usman with a jab. A double jab and then a right from Dricus du Plessis. The former welterweight kingpin replies by feinting a takedown and then landing a right hand over the top. 70-seconds remain. ‘DDP’ with a 1-2. A knee up the middle just misses. Usman with a 1-2 and then a big takedown. Du Plessis instantly scrambles up which pretty much negates the takedown for Kamaru Usman. This has been a much closer round, but Usman hasn’t really threatened ‘DDP’ at all.

Round four of the UFC Oklahoma City main event begins and Dricus Du Plessis lands a left hand. The fighters trade low kicks. Kamaru Usman looks for a single leg takedown. It is not there, but Usman is now throwing with bad intentions. He follows those punches up with a low kick. A high kick from ‘DDP’ rocks Usman. He’s still standing but that stun him. Another high kick and now a left hand over the top. Another left high kick. Usman answers with a low kick. A big right counter connects for Dricus du Plessis. The chin of Kamaru Usman though, wow. Another clubbing right from Dricus. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ looks to clinch. But a knee and then an uppercut have him switch strategies. Another hard left kick from ‘DDP’. This one to the body. A huge 1-2 from the former middleweight champion. Usman’s leaving his chin out there now. He leaps in with a big right hand that lands flush. Du Plessis just ate that somehow. We go to round five.

The fifth and final round begins and Dricus du Plessis comes forward quickly with a 1-2 and then a low kick. Kamaru Usman with a jab and then a front kick. He looks to counter with a left hook. ‘DDP’ with front kick up the middle. Usman misses with a counter right. A low blow pauses the action for a brief moment. We restart and Dricus with a big left head kick. Usman is rocked again. ‘DDP’ with a flurry. Kamaru Usman is firing right back. Dricus with a takedown attempt. Usman defends and now charges forward with a combination. Another head kick from the South African. Usman with three straight looping left hands. Now a stiff right jab. One minute remains. Dricus do Plessis is breathing heavy. Kamaru Usman is on the gas. A nice right hand from ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’. Du Plessis attempts a high kick. Usman blocks it. 25-seconds remain. A hard left kick from ‘DDP’. Usman with a late combination. he unloads on Dricus. Now a big right from Du Plessis. The horn sounds. Great fight!
