At one point in time, Thiago Alves was regarded as one of the top welterweights in the UFC. With explosive knockout power to go along with elite level Muay Thai technique, Alves went on a 7-fight win streak that saw him finish 5 of those opponents. The win streak earned Alves a crack at Georges St-Pierre’s welterweight championship at UFC 100. Ultimately, Alves lost the fight via decision, which sparked a bit of a skid in which he went just 4-4 over the course of his next 8 fights, including his recent TKO loss to Carlos Condit.

Now, Alves is looking to change things up and make his lightweight debut in August! In the video above you can see Alves looking slimmed down, and extremely quick as he hopes to make the drop to 155.
