In the main event of UFC 203, UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic stepped into the Octagon in front of his hometown fans in hopes of defending his UFC heavyweight championship.
In the very first round, Overeem landed a clean punch dropped Miocic. While it looked as though Overeem was on his way to winning the heavyweight championship, Miocic was able to recover, and turn the tables as he TKO’d Overeem in the 1st round to retain his heavyweight championship.
Originally rumored to headline UFC 290 in Las Vegas during International Fight Week in the Summer, current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic’s blockbuster bout is now pushed back from the event scheduled for July 8.
