Jon Jones

Nearly a decade ago, a 21 year old New York native by the name of Jon Jones stepped into the cage for his first professional MMA fight. Jones fought 0-2 Brad Bernard at FFP 20 in Boxborough, Massachusetts. Of course, spectators couldn’t have known that the Jon Jones pro debut that they just witnessed would continue into one of the most impressive careers in the history of MMA, with Jones going on to be called the greatest fighter of all time by many.

In the video above you can see the former UFC champ dominate his opponent in his MMA debut!

Jones of course is currently sidelined through the first half of 2017 due to a failed out-of-competition drug test prior to UFC 200 in July of 2016, where Jones was set to fight Daniel Cormier for the undisputed light heavyweight title. Unfortunately, just 48 hours before the fight, Jones was notified of the USADA violation and was subsequently pulled from the fight.

Since then, Jones has been cleared of wrongdoing by USADA after it was determined that the drug testing failure was the result of a tainted supplement, and not steroids purposely taken by the arguable pound for pound kingpin.

In the meantime, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has defended his belt once since winning it in 2015. In April, he will step into the Octagon for a highly anticipated rematch with Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson for the light heavyweight title. The fight will serve as a rematch of their vacant light heavyweight title fight from 2015, where Cormier picked up a submission win to claim the vacant title. Unfortunately, Cormier has been sidelined with injuries several times since winning the belt, and has been forced out of several scheduled meetings with both Jones and Johnson.

Only time will tell if Jones & Cormier ever share the Octagon once again.
