Weigh in staredown

For many years, Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) and Legacy Fighting Championship (LFC) stood out as two of the best feeder organizations in MMA. Their development of future UFC stars like Holly Holm, Tim Elliott and Sage Northcutt made this difficult to deny. Given this, the recent news that the two leagues would be merging under the new name Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) was met with widespread excitement.

The first show promoted by this new MMA amalgam goes down tonight at The Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas. In the main event, Brazil’s Leandro “Pitbull” Higo will battle Steven “Ocho” Peterson for the promotion’s inaugural bantamweight crown.

Last night, these two talented bantamweight fighters took to the scales to weigh in for battle. When they did, they ended up producing the most intense weigh in staredown in recent memory. Though no blows were thrown, this testosterone fuelled encounter was highlighted by plenty of macho gesturing, fiery expletives, and all around bravado. Watch Higo and Peterson’s weigh in encounter in full at the top of this post!

Evidently, the two LFA bantamweight title challengers are fired up for their upcoming battle.

Higo, who trains alongside Bellator MMA’s popular “pitbull” Freire brothers, will enter the fight with a 16-2 overall record. That record is highlighted by 3 knockout wins and a whopping 10 submission wins. He has not lost in seven straight fights.

Peterson, meanwhile, will step onto the canvas with an overall record of 14-4. Four of his 14 wins have come by way of knockout or TKO, while 6 have been produced with submissions. He’ll also enter this bout on an impressive win-streak, having earned victories in his six most recent fights.

Watch their showdown on AXS TV.
