Sean Brady suggests clash with Carlos Prates following UFC 328 win: “I’ve asked for that fight before”

Sean Brady is throwing his name in the hat as a potential opponent for Carlos Prates.

Both Brady and Prates are coming off big wins. Brady earned a dominant unanimous decision over Joaquin Buckley at UFC 328 this past Saturday. Prates stopped former UFC Welterweight Champion Jack Della Maddalena in the UFC Perth headliner.

Prates has been on a roll, while Brady’s win over Buckley was a much-needed bounce back after being stopped by Michael Morales back in Nov. 2025. While Prates has built himself as a strong welterweight contender, many believe Ian Machado Garry will inevitably be the next challenger for Islam Makhachev’s 170-pound gold.

During the UFC 328 post-fight presser, Brady suggested a showdown with Prates in the near future (h/t MMAJunkie).

“I would fight Prates, 100 percent,” Brady said. “I’ve asked for that fight before. Yeah, let’s do it.”

Brady mentioned initially wanting to share the Octagon with Kamaru Usman. He thinks those chances might be slipping away, as he senses “The Nigerian Nightmare” is targeting a middleweight run. Brady also mentioned his victory over former UFC 170-pound king Leon Edwards. At the time, Brady was viewed as the top contender before he ran into Morales.

Brady is itching to fight in front of his hometown fans in Philadelphia. He might get his chance as UFC returns to the “City of Brotherly Love” on Aug. 15. Brady isn’t willing to fight just any name, however.

“I deserve to fight up so, we’ll see how it plays out. I would love to fight in Philly, but it’s got to make sense for me, man. I’m 33 years old. I’m getting better and better every time I go out there, and I want to be a UFC champion, and I’m just trying to inch my way toward that.”
