Back in February it was reported that Tony Ferguson was offered a fight with Max Holloway for the promotions interim lightweight title at tonight’s UFC 236 event in Atlanta. https://twitter.com/ctaylor_96/status/1098314181705695232?s=21 UFC President Dana White would later confirm that report, this when he announced that Tony Ferguson had turned down a fight with “Blessed”, so the promotion was moving forward with a Holloway vs. Dustin Poirier rematch.

Current UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway will square off with Dustin Poirier for the promotions interim lightweight title in tonight’s UFC 236 headliner. Tonight’s main event will serve as a rematch, as Poirier and Holloway first met in 2012 with “The Diamond” emerging victorious by way of submission.

Kavanagh claimed that this past weekend was the first time he had seen Conor McGregor in months. The SBG head coach went on to say that he plans to meet with his star pupil later next week to discuss his next move.

On Saturday night, the UFC will return to our screens with UFC 236. The card, which will go down in Atlanta, Georgia, registers as the first to be topped by a pair of interim title fights. The first of these interim championship bouts will occur in the middleweight division, where undefeated striking ace Israel Adesanya will look to defeat brick-fisted wrestler Kelvin Gastelum. The winner of this fight can expect to unify their title with the undisputed belt owned by Robert Whittaker sometime later this year.

It hasn’t been a good week for UFC fighters and USADA. TJ Dillashaw was handed down at 2-year suspension by anti-doping agency and now UFC lightweight Mairbek Taisumov is the latest victim. According to a statement from the USADA website, Taisumov has accepted a six-month suspension and has tested positive for a pair of stanozolol metabolites, 3′-hydroxystanozolol-O-glucuronide and 16β-hydroxystanozolol-O-glucuronide.
