Joe Rogan praises ‘new star’ Jack Hermansson

In the span of a few weeks, Sweden’s Jack Hermansson has submitted former World Series of Fighting champion David Branch, and dominated former Strikeforce champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza to a decision. In doing so, the surging middleweight contender has impressed pretty much every member of the MMA community — and that includes UFC commentator Joe Rogan.

Rogan, who was not on duty for Saturday night’s UFC Fort Lauderdale card, where Hermansson defeated Jacare, heaped praise on the Swede on Instagram on Sunday afternoon.

See what he had to say below:

“I was seriously impressed with @jackthejokermma’s fight with @ronaldojacare last night. He came into the fight as an underdog against a man who in unquestionably one of the best 185lbs fighters on earth and earned a hard fought victory. He even almost caught the multiple time BJJ champion in his patented arm in guillotine. Submitting the very talented David Branch and then a month later beating Jacare is an amazing accomplishment. The already insanely packed middleweight division has a new star!” – Joe Rogan on Instagram.

Since joining the UFC in 2016, Hermansson has gone 7-2, defeating game opponents like Jacare, Branch, Thales Leites, Alex Nicholson and Scott Askham. His lone defeats in the Octagon have come courtesy of dangerous foes in Cezar Ferreira and Thiago Santos. He’s now a strong 20-4 overall, and one of the top contenders in the middleweight division.
