Daniel Cormier doubts Rousey vs Carano card tops UFC Freedom 250: “No chance, guys”

Daniel Cormier doesn’t think UFC Freedom 250 will be surpassed by the Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano card.

Most Valuable Promotions is looking to make a splash in the MMA world on May 16. The promotion will be holding Rousey’s comeback fight against Carano inside the Intuit Dome in Inglewood.

The card, which will be streamed on Netflix, will also feature a clash between former UFC stars Nate Diaz and Mike Perry. Ex-UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou is set for action against Philipe Lins.

While Cormier expressed intrigue in the Diaz vs. Perry fight on his YouTube channel, the UFC Hall of Famer thinks Freedom 250 will have Rousey vs Carano beat by a sizable margin (via MMAJunkie).

“Nothing is ever going to be the UFC,” Cormier said. “It just won’t happen, but at least there it seems like it’s real. A real event on a real platform that gives these people an ability to not only make a living, but have people tune in. It’s free. It’s Netflix, one of the biggest platforms in the world. … I think what they’ve done with this Carano-Rousey card is made a real place for people to fight outside of the UFC.

“And, I mean, honestly, competition is a good thing. It always is and always has been, and it always will be, and I love seeing guys have the ability to go out there and make some money. So, congratulations. That’s good. I’m excited. I’m actually excited. But for people comparing it to the White House card, no chance, guys. Come on. The White House card is the best card of the year, for sure. It’s better than that, let’s just be completely honest.”

The UFC Freedom 250 card is scheduled for June 14. A title unification bout in the lightweight division between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje will headline the show at the White House. The co-headliner will see Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane collide with the interim UFC Heavyweight Championship on the line.
