Most Valuable Promotions apparently gauged interest from Chris Weidman for a potential trilogy fight against Anderson Silva.

MVP has been promoting its May 16 MMA card, which is set to air live on Netflix. Headlining that event will be Ronda Rousey taking on Gina Carano in a comeback fight for the two women’s MMA pioneers. There are some other notable names on the card, such as Nate Diaz, who will be facing fellow ex-UFC star Mike Perry. Former UFC heavyweight titleholder Francis Ngannou is set to do battle with Philipe Lins.

During an interview with MMAFighting.com, Weidman revealed that MVP reached out to him to test the waters of a possible third fight against “The Spider.”

“They did [reach out],” Weidman said. “My manager hit me up. They were curious if I had any interest in doing MMA against Anderson and I told my manager yeah but that has to be even way more money.

“To get through a training camp and everything. We asked for as much money as possible and then I haven’t heard anything back.”

With the Rousey vs. Carano event approaching, Weidman vs. Silva 3 will not be a part of the festivities. Still, Weidman isn’t ruling out the possibility for a future event if the offer is right.

“Listen, I’d be down for the right amount of money,” Weidman said. “Me and Anderson have done a lot in our careers and have been through a lot. We’d love to get paid good for that. We’ll see what happens. That would be cool. I would be down.”

Weidman was initially put off by the idea of a trilogy with Silva unless the two did battle inside a boxing ring. The former UFC Middleweight Champion sounds more open to the idea of another MMA bout with the UFC Hall of Famer these days.
