Report | Mark Hunt to take on Justin Willis at UFC Adelaide in last fight on UFC deal

By Drake Riggs - September 25, 2018

The legendary “Super Samoan” Mark Hunt (13-13-1) was hopeful that after his UFC Moscow main event against Alexey Oleynik that he could head on home for his following bout. And now he’s getting his wish.

Mark Hunt, UFC Adelaide

Win or lose, Hunt ideally wanted to get to fight what will likely be his last fight in the UFC in front of his home crowd. The UFC is now obliging him as he draws Justin “Big Pretty” Willis (7-1) for the UFC’s return to Australia on December 2 in Adelaide.

Mark Hunt vs. Justin Willis booked for UFC Adelaide on Dec. 2, multiple sources tell @espn. The fight would mark the final one on Hunt’s contract and, considering all that has happened over the past two years, could very well signal the end of his UFC run. Story coming shortly.

For Willis, he’ll be getting a massive jump up in competition as the biggest win of his short career to this point is Chase Sherman. Regardless, having lost his first pro bout he’s been a model of perfection since four KO/TKO wins out of his seven total (the other three being decisions).

When speaking prior to his most recent fight, Hunt acknowledged that his career is coming to an end. Despite that, he still wants to fight on for a bit longer and do so outside of the UFC.

On a bit of a skid having lost two straight and gone 1-3 in his last four, Hunt’s recent losses have come via getting out grappled. Thankfully for Hunt, he should be getting just the type of opponent he likes in Willis who will stand and trade with him for the sure to be fired up crowd.

Admittedly, it’s a bit of a shame we won’t be getting the kickboxing legend clash between Hunt and Gokhan Saki.
