O’Malley (17-1 MMA) and Vera (23-8 MMA) originally collided at UFC 252 in August of 2020, with ‘Chito’ emerging victorious in the first round after ‘Suga’ suffered an ankle injury.

Since their first encounter, Sean O’Malley has gone 5-0 (1 no-contest) capturing the promotion‘s bantamweight title in the process. ‘Suga’ was last seen in action at UFC 292, where he dethroned Aljamain Sterling with a second-round TKO victory.

Meanwhile, Marlon Vera also most recently competed at UFC 292 in August of last year, where he scored a unanimous decision win over Pedro Munhoz. That victory got ‘Chito’ back in the win column, as he was previously defeated by Cory Sandhagen by split decision.

UFC 299 is co-headlined by a key lightweight bout featuring Dustin Poirier taking on Benoit Saint-Denis.

Poirier (29-8 MMA) will enter the contest looking to rebound, this after suffering a nasty knockout loss to Justin Gaethje in his most previous effort at UFC 291. Prior to that setback, ‘The Diamond’ was coming off a submission victory over Michael Chandler in November of 2022.

Meanwhile, Benoit Saint-Denis (13-1 MMA) most recently competed at November’s UFC 295 event, where he scored a highlight reel knockout over Matt Frevola (see that here). That victory marked the Frenchman’s fifth in a row, with all five wins coming by way of stoppage.

Also featured on the UFC 299 main card is the Octagon debut of Michael Page who squares off with Kevin Holland.

Page (21-2 MMA) will be competing in MMA for the first time since Bellator 292 in March of 2023, where he scored a first-round TKO victory (leg kick) over Goiti Yamauchi. That win was preceded by a split decision loss to Logan Storley which occurred in May of 2022.

Meanwhile, Kevin Holland (25-10 MMA) will be looking to rebound after suffering a split decision loss to Jack Della Maddalena in his most recent effort last September. That setback snapped a two-fight winning streak for ‘Trailblazer’, who had previously scored wins over Michal Chiesa and Santiago Ponzinibbio respectively.
