Pros react after Renato Moicano defeats Drew Dober at UFC Vegas 85

By Chris Taylor - February 3, 2024

Tonight’s UFC Vegas 85 event was co-headlined by a highly anticipated lightweight fight between Drew Dober and Renato Moicano.

Renato Moicano

Dober (27-13 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since October’s UFC Vegas 80 event, where he scored a first-round TKO victory over Ricky Glenn. That finish moved the Denver native back into the win column, as he had previously suffered a TKO loss to Matt Frevola at UFC 288.

Meanwhile, Renato Moicano (18-5-1 MMA) was competing for the first time since scoring a submission win over Brad Riddell at UFC 281 in November of 2022. The 34-year-old Brazilian had gone 3-1 over his previous four Octagon appearances, with his lone loss in that time coming to former champion Rafael Dos Anjos by unanimous decision.

Tonight’s UFC Vegas 85 co-main event resulted in a back and forth 15-minute affair. Renato Moicano had a strong opening round, but Drew Dober seemingly rallied back to win round two. After some early success in the stand up in round three, Moicano was able to get Dober back down to the canvas where he proceeded to dominate the final few minutes of the fight.
