UFC Vegas 85 Results: Renato Moicano defeats Drew Dober (Highlights)

Dober (27-12 MMA) was last seen in action at October’s UFC Vegas 80 event, where he scored a first-round TKO victory over Ricky Glenn. That finish got the Denver native back into the win column, as he had previously suffered a TKO loss to Matt Frevola at UFC 288.

Meanwhile, Renato Moicano (17-5-1 MMA) will be competing for the first time since scoring a submission win over Brad Riddell at UFC 281 in November of 2022. The 34-year-old Brazilian has gone 3-1 over his past four Octagon appearances, with his lone loss in that time coming to former champion Rafael Dos Anjos by unanimous decision.

Round one of the UFC Vegas 85 co-main event begins and Renato Moicano comes forward with a jab. Drew Dober counters with a right hook. The pair trade shots in the pocket. Dober with a nice left. The fighters trade low kicks. Moicano leaps in with a right hook. He throws another. Dober counters with a big left. That appeared to stun Renato. Drew rushes in and Moicano is able to dive on a single leg takedown and he gets it. The Brazilian begins working from half guard position. He’s landing some short punches and elbows. Moicano looks to pass but Dober won’t let him. Another scramble and Drew gets back to full guard. Renato postures up and lands a nice elbow. Drew Dober attempts to kick Renato Moicano off, but it fails to work. ‘Money’ with a big shot now from the top. That right hand instantly caused swelling underneath the eye of Dober. Good pressure here from Moicano who looks to pass to full mount. He works the body of Dober with some good punches. Drew’s face is a mess. The horn sounds to end round one.

Round two of the UFC Vegas 85 co-main event begins and Renato Moicano comes forward quickly. Drew Dober attacks with a three-punch combination, but that allows Moicano to get inside and score an early takedown. Renato begins working from half guard, but Dober scrambles and is able to get back to his feet. Moicano still has the American pressed against the cage. He scores a trip takedown and immediately passes to half guard. Some short punches and elbows land for the Brazilian. The referee suggests he wants to see more action, but Moicano is doing a good job of staying busy from a dominant position. More punches to the body by Moicano. Drew Dober looks to scramble but gives up his back. Another scramble and he is back to his feet. Renato shoots for a takedown but Drew catches him in a lateral drop and is able to secure top position. Big shots from Dober now and Moicano is busted up big time. He is leaking blood all over the place. The horn sounds to end round two.

The third and final round of the UFC Vegas 85 co-main event begins and Drew Dober comes forward with a big combination. He leaps in with a big left that just misses the mark. A good body kick from the American. Renato Moicano needs to get off some offense here. Dober connects with another heavy body kick. Moicano with a good right hand. Dober replies with a left. The Brazilian shoots for a takedown and gets it. He is working from half guard position to start, but Dober quickly scrambles to full guard. Big elbows from Moicano. He is very close to passing to full mount now. Instead, Drew Dober finds a way back to full guard. Big shots from the top by Moicano. He goes to the body and then back the head. Dober scrambles but ends up in half guard. Moicano moves to full mount and has 30-seconds to work. He lands a body shot and then Dober gets back to half guard. The horn sounds to end the fight.
