When Eddie Alvarez and Rafael dos Anjos stepped into the Octagon on July 7th, no one could have imagined Alvarez would pick up such an incredibly dominant TKO just minutes into the fight to claim the UFC lightweight championship. With the UFC opting to book dos Anjos to fight Tony Ferguson rather than give him an immediate rematch with Alvarez, the former champ has made some changes behind the scenes.

Rafael dos Anjos discusses his upcoming fight with Tony Ferguson

Chris Taylor - August 29, 2016

Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos will be locking horns with surging contender Tony Ferguson on November 5 in Mexico City. And while this isn’t the fight “RDA” was initially hoping for, it is one he seems fairly happy with. “I asked for the rematch [with Alvarez], but I didn’t think they’d give it to me, so I needed to fight somebody else. So I thought, who should I fight? Tony’s a guy with eight wins straight, and Khabib is begging for the belt which I don’t think he deserves.” dos Anjos told Ariel Helwani on today’s episode of The MMA Hour.
