With less than two weeks out from the biggest fight of his career, lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos pulled out of his scheduled bout with featherweight champion Conor McGregor with a foot injury. Dos Anjos updated everyone with his injured foot. After Rafael dos Anjos withdrew from his UFC 196 lightweight title fight against Conor McGregor on Tuesday, there was much speculation as to who would step in to fight Conor McGregor. Donald Cerrone was the first person to offer to fill in for dos Anjos, and even began starting to cut weight in anticipation of getting the fight.

The UFC ultimately replaced dos Anjos with Nate Diaz on short notice, and moved the bout from 155 pounds to 170 pounds given that Diaz was stepping in on short notice.
