Just Scrap Radio Ep. 221 with Jim Miller

The 221st episode of Just Scrap Radio on BJPENN.com with host Cole Shelton is live to preview UFC 328.
We’re joined by UFC lightweight Jim Miller to preview his UFC 328 fight against Jared Gordon in Newark.
Jim Miller is the lone guest on the show as he previews his UFC 328 fight against Jared Gordon. Jim also revealed his 14-year-old son was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer, which led to his time off as his focus was on making sure his son was healthy.
“He had cancer, he was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a very aggressive and very rare childhood cancer,” Miller said to BJPENN.com. “He had a tumor tucked into his sinus and eye socket. Frontally, location-wise, it was probably in the best spot it could be. It popped right out when he did the biopsy. But he still had to go through the two rounds of chemotherapy and a round of radiation.
“The radiation was for five weeks, every day by Rutgers, which is an hour-and-a-half from us. The ability to do that and move my schedule around, cause I was training for a fight when he got into the radiation part. I’m glad I’m a fighter, I’m glad I chose this road, so I could be there for my son and help him through his struggles.”
Miller then spoke about his UFC 328 fight against Jared Gordon and getting a chance to fight in Newark. He talks about the style matchup and how he sees the fight playing out. Jim then chats about his goal of getting to 50 UFC fights. And, whether or not he has opponents in mind for those fights.
Be sure to tune in every Tuesday for another episode of Just Scrap Radio on BJPENN as Cole Shelton chats with fighters to help preview or recap their fights.
