Recently, I got my hands on the new UFC Training Shoe. I needed a shoe to counteract the pain I would inflict upon myself by doing P90X on a hard surface or with my casual sneakers that have no arch in the sole. While in the market for a new shoe, I naturally gravitated toward the UFC shoe, being an MMA fan. When they arrived, I couldn’t help but first notice the packaging as it truly was focused around the UFC. A sleek box with an over-the-edge plastic sheet shaped like an Octagon and even Octagon-shaped carrying holes, just to add flare to the packaging.

Since Nick skipped the fight, nobody has heard from him, and it appears that he is hiding from the public eye, leaving coach Cesar Gracie to defend him and salvage what he can of Nick’s reputation.

When Chael Sonnen talks, people tend to listen. If you have a camera or a microphone and Chael Sonnen is in the room, you better hide it because he will do whatever he can to create more buzz about his upcoming fight, simply because that’s what he does best. Whether you love him or hate him, every time he has a media appearance he has the uncanny ability to make people want to pay to see him get dominated or walk away with the victory. Chael Sonnen recently appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” and chatted away with the UFC commentator and stand-up comedian for almost three straight hours. While some may stay away form the podcast in fear of having to hear Chael Sonnen in character for three hours, it’s interesting to note that the Sonnen that showed up was not looking to increase the PPV buy-rate for his upcoming bout, nor did he cut any professional wrestling promos. Joe Rogan brought out the best of his interviewee, and Sonnen sounded like a real person. The interview between the two was very candid and addressed a number of serious topics (as well as a few silly ones) including how Chael Sonnen overcame the mental block that allowed him to be the trash talker he is today.

However, yesterday the New York Court of Appeals ruled that viewing child pornography is no longer a criminal offense. MMA fans are left to wonder why MMA is illegal, but the viewing of child pornography is legal. The law says that viewing child pornography doesn’t qualify as possesssion of it, as long as the content isn’t downloaded.

Ronda Rousey will be looking to continue her winning streak by successfully defending her Strikeforce Bantamweight Title for the first time this summer. After defeating Miesha Tate at a Strikeforce event in March 2012, and with Cyborg Santos sidelined due to suspension, Ronda Rousey is now expected to face top-contender Sarah Kaufman at a Strikeforce card in August that has yet to be announced. The date and location are not yet confirmed, but with UFC events booked for August 4th and 11th it’s a safe bet that the event will take place in the second half of August.
