Matt Mitrione’s ‘UFC Fight Night: Boston’ scrap with Travis Browne was the last fight on his current UFC contract. Unfortunately for Mitrione, two eye pokes and a broken orbital lead to him being defeated via TKO at the event. While Mitrione is appealing the loss with the Massachusetts commission due to the fact that referee Gary Foreman didn’t deduct a point from Browne for poking Mitrione in the eyes twice. In addition, after the bout several suspicious details emerged regarding Gary Foreman’s actions leading up to the bout.

After it was announced that Conor McGregor would be defending his UFC featherweight championship at UFC 200, there was much speculation as to whether or not he would defend his championship against Jose Aldo or Frankie Edgar. With everyone talking about a potential McGregor vs. Aldo and McGregor vs. Edgar fight, many are forgetting about top ranked featherweight Max Holloway.

In the co-main event of UFC 196, Holly Holm and Miesha Tate battled for nearly 5 full rounds. While it seemed that Holm was on her way to an impressive decision win to retain her UFC women’s bantamweight championship, Tate secured a late 5th round submission to win the bout. Holm showed tremendous heart as she fought the choke, refusing to tap, while ultimately lead to her being choked unconscious.

After Dominick Cruz made his triumphant return to the cage against TJ Dillashaw in December, Urijah Faber immediately called out his nemesis for a trilogy fight. While many wanted to see Cruz have a rematch with TJ Dillashaw given that their fight was called a split decision, the UFC cashed in on the hype of a trilogy bout between Cruz and Faber and booked the two to fight in the co-main event of UFC 199 on June 4th.

It’s no secret that Martial Arts icon Jean Claude Van Damme is a big UFC fan. Van Damme even offered to train Conor McGregor after his UFC 189 win over Chad Mendes for the interim UFC featherweight championship. This past Saturday at UFC 196, Nate Diaz shocked the world as he defeated Conor McGregor via 2nd round submission. While Van Damme was not one of the celebrities in attendance at UFC 196, he did watch the event.

Ahead of the fight, Jones and Cormier have continued their long-standing rivalry, using the ‘UFC Unstoppable’ press conference to talk nothing but trash for nearly 45 minutes.

Tim Kennedy is never one to shy away from speaking his mind. After the UFC announced their partnership with Reebok, Kennedy spent the next several months refusing to support the deal while he sat on the sidelines. Part of the deal between the UFC and Reebok stated that fighters would get a certain percentage of money when fans bout that fighter’s “fight kit.” Kennedy went as far as to tell fans not to purchase his fight kit because he made pennies from the purchase.

With UFC 200 rapidly approaching, talk of dream fights for the UFC to book for the event are at an all-time high. In the wake of UFC 196, we now know that Conor McGregor will drop back down to featherweight to defend his UFC featherweight championship, however there has been no word yet on whether Jose Aldo or Frankie Edgar will contest for the belt.

In the co-main event of UFC 194 Luke Rockhold put on an incredible performance as he dominated then-UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman over the course of 4 rounds. While the fight arguably could have been stopped at the end of the 3rd round when Rockhold was pouring on the ground and pound, referee Herb Dean allowed the fight to continue, and Weidman survived until the 4th.

This past Saturday, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor, in an unprecedented move, jumped up 2 weight classes to fight at welterweight. Ultimately, McGregor was submitted by Nate Diaz in the 2nd round of their UFC 196 main event scrap. Immediately following the bout, many critics emerged from the woodwork to criticize McGregor for his confidence leading up to the fight. While seeing memes of yourself all over social media would irritate most people, McGregor isn’t ‘most people’.

This past Saturday at UFC 196 Conor McGregor suffered the first loss of his UFC career at the hands of Nate Diaz as he was submitted in the 2nd round of their welterweight scrap. After the bout, McGregor surprised many as he showed nothing but respect for Diaz, and made no excuses for his loss. McGregor continued to remain graceful in defeat on social media Friday evening.
