MMA media members are having a tough time with facing the consequences of simply doing their job and picking who they think will win the big matches in the UFC when the question comes up. Recently, Jon Anik who is a UFC commentator and familiar face to the promotion made a lot of noise when he picked Conor McGregor to win the main event at UFC 196 against Nate Diaz. Anik went and said that if Diaz won, he would get a “209” tattoo, which is Diaz’s hometown area code. Diaz was not happy about Anik’s pick and comment and made sure to remind Anik of his promise after Diaz was able to submit McGregor in the second round of their bout.

At UFC 196, Nate Diaz shocked the world as he stepped up to fight Conor McGregor at welterweight on just 11 days notice. While it was reported prior to the fight that Diaz had been training for a triathlon, the Stockton fighter revealed post-fight that he had been on a yacht in Cabo partying it up.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans says he is picking the current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier to avenge his only professional MMA loss when he rematches the former champion Jon Jones at UFC 197 on April 23rd. “I am going to go on record and I’m going to go with the upset on this one — I’m going to go with DC,” Evans told FOX Sports while picking Cormier for the win. “For some reason I just feel like DC’s going to get this fight. I just feel like he is.”

The bill now moves to the desk of Governor Andrew Cuomo, who in the past has expressed his interest in signing the bill. This is a big win for the sport of MMA, and for ZUFFA, who has been trying to hold an event at the famed Madison Square Garden for quite some time now.

Earlier this week top ranked UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov took to Twitter to inform EA Sports that they got his post-fight celebration wrong in EA Sports UFC 2, and that the company needed to change his celebration as a sign of respect to himself and his fans. Nurmagomedov posted a photo on Instagram showing a message which he received from the EA Sports UFC team, apologizing for the error, promising to fix it.

Tuesday was a historic day for sports. New York was the last state in the U.S. to have MMA outlawed, and the process to have that changed started on Tuesday when a bill to change the laws and regulate MMA in New York passed with a 113-25 vote. The bill now awaits the governer’s signature to be passed into law.

His latest arrest was on March 15th after allegedly vandalizing a tattoo shop with anti-police graffiti on the building’s exterior. “Mayhem” spoke with OC Weekly about his history with the law and interestingly still has not been found guilty on any of the five cases in the courts pending against him.
