UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has been busy training for her upcoming rematch with top contender Claudia Gadelha. The bitter rivals, Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha, just recently completed the filming of The Ultimate Fighter Season 23, where they served as opposing coaches.

On Friday night we broke the news that current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier had suffered an injury and would no longer be able to defend his title against Jon Jones at UFC 197 on April 23. Yesterday, UFC officials announced that Ovince Saint Preux would be stepping up on short-notice to challenge Jon Jones for the UFC’s interim light heavyweight title at the event (UFC 197).

Thursday evening news broke that Daniel Cormier had injured his knee in training and would no longer be able to compete in his scheduled UFC 197 title defense on April 23rd against Jon Jones. Yesterday evening news surfaced that UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier had been forced to withdraw from his UFC 197 title fight with Jon Jones due to an injury. While there was much speculation as to whether the UFC would find a replacement opponent for Jones, or re-schedule Jones vs. Cormier II for a later date, we now have our answer!
