So, when the UFC announced that they pulled “The Notorious” off UFC 200 for his refusal to take part in media obligations to promote the fight, a lot of people were scratching their heads.

While Conor McGregor was just pulled from UFC 200 less than 2 weeks ago, Nate Diaz believes that McGregor was never actually in the fight. McGregor announced his retirement on social media, leaving many fans confused. UFC President Dana White then announced on SportsCenter that McGregor had been pulled from UFC 200 for refusing to fulfill his media obligations for the event. While there has been quite a bit of back-and-forth between McGregor and the UFC, the UFC brass has stuck to their guns and refused to give into McGregor’s demands.

At UFC 200 on July 9th, Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar will fight for the interim UFC featherweight championship, with the winner facing Conor McGregor for the undisputed featherweight championship at a later date. Aldo and Edgar met once before at UFC 156 back in 2013 for Aldo’s featherweight championship. Ultimately, Aldo was given the nod in the fight, which was awarded Fight of the Night honors.

Today’s UFC 200 press conference was apparently a prime example of “Mystic Mac’s” drawing power, as it is being reported that the presser received significantly less viewers in comparison to the UFC 196 press conference that occurred just over a month ago.

The initial headlining bout for UFC 200 is no longer an option, according to the UFC. Conor McGregor will not be fighting Nate Diaz in their non-title welterweight rematch as originally planned. Instead, Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones will fight in the main event of UFC 200 for the undisputed UFC light heavyweight title.

Jon Jones has gotten a bit of flack for his performance against Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197. “OSP” stepped in on three weeks notice when Jones’ original opponent Daniel Cormier was forced out of their bout due to an injury. Jones’ wrestling coach Izzy Martinez attributed part of the lackluster performance due to the new opponent being given to them on short notice.

Surprisingly, the promotion has now offered Conor McGregor $2 million to fight at the event as well.
