Matt Brown signs new UFC contract

Top ranked UFC welterweight Matt Brown is coming off a 3rd round submission loss to Demian Maia earlier this month at UFC 198, but will likely be looking to return to the Octagon sooner rather than later with his newly signed contract. The contract is for 8 fights, and according to a recent social media post, Brown is quite pleased with the deal.
Former employee sues Bellator and claims the promotion ‘forged’ and ‘falsified’ fighter medicals

Former Bellator MMA Talent Development Director Zach Light is suing Bellator and parent company Viacom for wrongful dismissal. Light filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court. According to the complaint, Light alleges that it became known to him that fighters under Bellator MMA were using fraudulent medical reports to be permitted to fight for the promotion.

After winning the UFC featherweight championship in December at UFC 194 by knocking out Jose Aldo, McGregor looked to move up to lightweight to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight championship. When Rafael dos Anjos backed out of the fight with a broken foot, McGregor accepted a short-notice fight at welterweight against Nate Diaz.

Ahead of UFC 200 on July 9th, it appears as though Frankie Edgar has had enough of Jose Aldo’s trash talk. The pair are currently slated to fight on the main card in an interim featherweight championship fight, with the winner facing Conor McGregor at a later date. Recently, Edgar stated that he felt Aldo was talking trash just to hype the fight, but was doing a rather poor job of it. In a new interview with MMAJunkie, Edgar continued his retorts to Aldo’s comments:

After Chris Weidman withdrew from his UFC 199 title fight against Luke Rockhold due to a neck injury, there was much speculation as to whether Michael Bisping or Jacare Souza would get the nod to fight for the middleweight championship on short notice. Ultimately, it was revealed that Jacare would need to undergo knee surgery after his TKO win over Vitor Belfort, leading the UFC to give Bisping the shot.

Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor were supposed to have their highly anticipated rematch at UFC 200 on July 9th, however McGregor was ultimately pulled from the event for refusing to fulfill his media obligations. While UFC President Dana White initially stated that Diaz would remain on the card, he was then pulled from the July 9th event, and rumors began emerging that he and McGregor would fight at UFC 202.
