Current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier squared off with former middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva in a non-title bout during tonight’s UFC 200 main card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Silva is circling trying to keep Daniel on the outside. Anderson with a leg kick. Cormier is pressing forward. He shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Cormier is working from full guard. Anderson tries to secure an armbar but it is not there. Daniel tries to pass to half guard but Silva will not let him. Cormier presses Anderson against the cage and postures up. He is able to move to half guard and begins landing some short elbows. Anderson does not like those. Silva is doing a decent job of defending. Daniel is finally able to posture up and lands some big punches. Cormier is trying to move in to full mount. Anderson does a good job keeping Daniel in half guard. Thirty seconds remain in round one. Cormier is smothering Anderson but not landing any big strikes.
UFC 200 Results: Jose Aldo defeats Frankie Edgar via decision

Former lightweight title holder Frankie Edgar (20-5-1 MMA) squared off with former featherweight champion Jose Aldo (26-2 MMA) for the promotions interim 145-pound title on tonight’s UFC 200 main card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Edgar opens things up with a leg kick. He presses forward and lands another low kick. Frankie is circling Aldo and lands another leg kick and another. Good jab from Frankie. Aldo fires a jab that is blocked. Edgar presses forward with shots and then lands a leg kick. Aldo with a jab. Frankie misses with a front kick but lands a nice follow up combo. Aldo with a nice right hand. Jose throws a combination. Frankie is moving well but Aldo seems to be finding his range now. Frankie shoots in for a takedown and gets Aldo down to one knee before Jose springs back up. Nice combination from Edgar. He is bouncing around and using a ton of movement. Aldo with a nice left and then a big right hand. Frankie eats it and presses forward. Aldo lands a nice knee to the body of Edgar. He throws a flying knee that partially connects. Aldo with another shot as that drops Frankie who was flying in. Edgar gets back up. Round one comes to an end.

A heavyweight bout between former title holder Cain Velasquez (14-2 MMA) and perennial contender Travis Browne (18-4-1 MMA) kicked off tonight’s UFC 200 main card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Velasquez quickly takes the center of the octagon. Browne with a nice right hand over the top. Cain comes back with a leg kick. Velasquez presses forward with some jabs. He lands another leg kick. Travis responds with a knee to the body. Cain fires back with a knee in the clinch position. He presses Travis against he cage. More knees score for Cain. He lands some short shots inside on Browne. They break. Travis misses with a right. Cain with a leg kick and then another. Browne circles away. Cain with another leg kick. He throws a combination and gets inside. Velasquez tags Browne with a big punch. Travis falls to the floor. Cain follows him. He begins landing punches from top position. Nice short elbows from Velasquez. He gets a hold of the neck but Browne is able to defend. Nice shots from the top by Cain. Browne is able to stand back up but Cain has his back. Browne scrambles free. He eats a left hook from Cain and is wobbled. Back to the ground and Cain is all over him. He flattens him out and begins hammering Travis with punches. It is all over.
UFC 200 Results: Kelvin Gastelum defeats Johny Hendricks via decision

A key welterweight bout between former champ Johny Hendricks (17-5 MMA) and Kelvin Gastelum (12-2 MMA) took place during tonight’s UFC 200 preliminary card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Gastelum opens things up with a high kick that misses. He quickly takes the center of the octagon. Johny comes in with a combination. Kelvin lands a nice left hand over the top. He presses forward and lands a leg kick. Hendricks comes back with a leg kick of his own. Kelvin responds with two leg kicks and then a left hand. A nice right jab scores for Gastelum. Johny with a nice body kick inside. Gastelum with a nice combination. Johny is pressing forward now. Kelvin lands a counter left. Hendricks with an uppercut. Both men miss with jabs. A nice punch kick combo lands for Kelvin. He lands another combination and another. He is lighting Johny up now. Hendricks ducks under a punch and press Kelvin against the cage. Johny with some knees inside before Kelvin breaks free and lands a leg kick. Hendricks lands a nice left hand. Kelvin continues to push the pace. Gastelum with a nice straight left hand. Hendricks is trying to utilize head movement but it is not working. Good shots from both fighters. Johny with a kick to the body. Round one comes to an end.

A key bantamweight bout between former title holder T.J. Dillashaw (13-3 MMA) and Raphael Assuncao (23-5 MMA) took place on tonight’s UFC 200 preliminary card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Assuncao takes the center of the octagon. TJ lands a good leg kick. Dillashaw is utilizing a lot of movement early. Raphael misses with a a wild right. TJ with a leg kick. Assuncao returns fire with one of his own. Nice right lands for TJ. The fighters exchange leg kicks. Nice spinning back kick from Assuncao. He follows up with a leg kick. TJ lands a double jab. Raphael catches a kick and lands a knee. Solid leg kick lands for Dillashaw. Assuncao presses forward with punches and attempts a takedown. It is not there. Nice leg kick and then a body kick from Assuncao. TJ shoots in for a takedown but it is not there. Excellent right hand from TJ. He presses forward but eats a punch from Assuncao. Round one comes to an end.

A lightweight bout between Sage Northcutt (8-1 MMA) and Enrique Marin (8-4 MMA) kicked off tonight’s UFC 200 prelims on FOX Sports 1. Round one begins and Marin takes the center of the octagon. Nice jab lands for Northcutt. Sage with a high kick and then a left hand. Marin comes forward and lands a right hand. Nice kick from Sage partially lands. He fires off with another combo. Marin ducks under and gets double under hooks. He presses Sage against the fence. Marin with some good knees inside. Marin drops down for a double leg and gets it. Sage quickly sweeps Marin and winds up on top. Sage is working from side control and quickly takes his back. Northcutt sinks in both hooks. Marin rolls and Sage ends up on top in half guard. Nice elbow from Northcutt. Marin is able to stand back up and presses Sage against the cage. Good knee from Northcutt. Sage dives in for a takedown but it is not there. Sage with another attempt and this time he gets Marin to the floor. Nice shots from the top by Sage. He is looking to take the back of Marin. They scramble and Marin winds up on top as round one comes to an end.

A lightweight bout between veterans Diego Sanchez (26-9 MMA) and Joe Lauzon (26-11 MMA) capped off tonight’s UFC 200 Fight Pass prelims in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Diego presses forward but eats a jab. Nice kick to the body from Diego. He charges forward and lands an uppercut. Lauzon is pressing the action. He catches Diego and drops him. Sanchez is back up but is dropped again. Big elbow from Joe. Diego is back up. Lauzon with some huge shots against the fence. Diego circles away but is hurt. More shots from Lauzon and this one is over.

A middleweight bout between former Strikeforce champ Gegard Mousasi (39-6-2 MMA) and Thiago “Marreta” Santos (13-4 MMA) served as the second bout of tonight’s UFC 200 card in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Mousasi opens the fight with a leg kick. Gegard is pressing forward. He charges in with a right hand. Santos lands a counter punch. Mousasi has a high kick blocked. Gegard with a jab, Santos responds with a leg kick. Another nice jab from Gegard. He lands a solid leg kick on the Brazilian. Santos replies with a leg kick of his own. Mousasi with some big uppercuts. He uses the momentum to earn a takedown. He is working some strikes from half guard. Santos stands back up. Mousasi with a knee to the body. Gegard lands a trip and takes side control. He lands a big elbow from the top. Santos is able to get back to full guard. He tries to stand up. Mousasi lands a huge shot that drops the Brazilian. Another shot and this one is over!

A lightweight bout between former PRIDE champ Takanori Gomi (35-12 MMA) and Jim Miller (26-8 MMA) off tonight’s historic UFC 200 event in Las Vegas. Round one begins and Miller presses forward with a combo that misses. Gomi with a jab to the body of Miller. Jim lands a nice left hand. Miller catches a Gomi leg kick and takes him down. Jim immediately takes the back of Gomi. He is searching for a rear-naked choke. Miller locks up a body triangle. Miller with some big shots from the top. He flattens Gomi out and smashes him with punches. This one is over!

Friday night in Las Vegas, UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk once again defended her strawweight championship when she defeated Claudia Gadelha via unanimous decision. Prior to the fight, Jedrzejczyk revealed her plans to move up to flyweight and become the first female 2-divison UFC champion. After Jedrzejczyk’s win over Gadelha, Joanne Calderwood, who recently won the first ever women’s flyweight fight, called for a fight against Jedrzejczyk.

Friday night in the main event of the TUF 23 Finale, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha had their highly anticipated rematch, this time for the UFC women’s strawweight championship. Jedrzejczyk was able to weather the early storm from Gadelha, and ultimately win via unanimous decision, retaining her strawweight championship in the process.

The ongoing saga of former welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre’s return continued this week. Ahead of UFC 200, there was much speculation as to whether or not St-Pierre would return to the Octagon for the historic event. While the UFC was reportedly trying to book St-Pierre to return to the Octagon, the former champ never returned.

Friday evening in the main event of the TUF 23 Finale, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha had their highly anticipated grudge match for the women’s strawweight title. Gadelha came out of the gate strong, putting the pressure on the champ through the first two rounds. Ultimately however, Jedrzejczyk’s cardio and striking throughout the second half of the fight helped her to retain her belt by winning via unanimous decision.
