Last Friday, in the main event of Bellator 160, former Bellator featherweight champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire took on former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson for the chance to fight Michael Chandler for the Bellator lightweight title. Unfortunately, the bout turned into a bit of a disaster for the Brazilian slugger. Despite a strong first round, throughout which he repeatedly tagged the much larger Henderson, Freire ultimately lost in the second, bowing out of the fight with a freak injury: a broken fibula (calf bone).

Former WWE champion CM Punk (0-0 MMA) will make his mixed martial arts debut at next month’s UFC 203 pay-per-view event in Cleveland when he takes on Mickey Gall (2-0 MMA) on the evening’s main card. As you can imagine, the former WWE star has been labelled as the underdog in his first octagon appearance against Gall, UFC commentator Jon Anik posted the current fight odds on Twitter:

A fan who purchased four tickets to July’s blockbuster UFC 200 event in Las Vegas, which was expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight title unification bout between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, is taking “Bones” and his management team to court. BloodyElbow is reporting that on August 19, Sean Slattery filed a lawsuit in San Diego Superior Court against Jones and his managers, First Round Management, for concealment, negligent misrepresentation, and negligence relating to the interim champ’s flagged drug test results and subsequent removal from July’s UFC 200 fight card in Las Vegas.
