The bout served as Punk’s first ever professional mixed martial arts fight and came against a very young and talented prospect, Gall, who had gone 2-0 thus far in his professional MMA career.

UFC welterweight Mickey Gall improved his record to a perfect 3-0 yesterday evening in Cleveland, Ohio, this after he scored a first-round submission victory over former WWE star CM Punk (0-1 MMA) on the main card of UFC 203. Gall secured a takedown on Punk early in round one and was then able to dominate the former WWE champion on the floor, eventually locking in a rear-naked choke submission finish.

On the main card of UFC 203, Mickey Gall and CM Punk had their long-awaited fight inside the Octagon. Punk, who was signed to the UFC in 2014, was all smiles during his walkout as he high fived fans. When the fight started, it was all Gall as he took CM Punk down in just seconds. Gall began to reign down shots as Punk established his guard. Ultimately, Gall’s experience paid off as he was able to secure a 1st round submission win over Punk.

A heavyweight championship bout between current title holder Stipe Miocic and top contender Alistair Overeem served as the main event for tonight’s UFC 203 pay-per-view card in Cleveland, Ohio. Round one begins and Overeem is using a lot of movement early. He is circling around waiting to counter. Stipe charges forward with punches but cannot connect. Overeem lands a solid kick to the body. Overeem drops Miocic with a left. He locks in a guillotine choke but cannot finish the submission. They are back on their feet. Miocic still seems a little shaky. He presses forward and lands a left. Overeem counters with a big shot. Stipe moves forward and lands an uppercut. Stipe with a big right. He is putting it on Alistair. Huge shots from the Cleveland native. An uppercut lands for Overeem that stuns Miocic. What a wild start. Big shots from Miocic. Alistair is almost running away at this point. He stops and lands a big right. Miocic comes back with a combination. Stipe shoots in and lands a takedown. Big shots from Miocic. Overeem is out! It is all over.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum took on Travis Browne in the co-main event of tonight’s UFC 203 fight card in Cleveland, Ohio. Round one begins and Werdum throws a flying side kick to start that lands flush on Browne’s face. He dives in for a takedown but it is not there. Werdum lands a nice right hand and then a front kick to the body. Browne lands a leg kick. Werdum attempts a crazy cartwheel kick that misses. He comes forward and lands a right hand. Browne back tracks and grabs his glove. The referee steps in and stops the action. Werdum is furious. It apperars Travis has an injured finger. The referee restarts the bout. Werdum charges forward and lands a right hand. He presses Browne against the cage and lands some solid short punches. Travis escapes the position and circles away. The Hawaiian lands a big kick to the body. Werdum returns fire with a hard leg kick. Werdum lands a big right hand that drops Browne. He jumps on Travis moves immediately to half guard. Werdum takes Browne’s back and looks to secure a choke. He can’t lock it in so he begins working some ground and pound. Browne survives as the horn sounds to end round one.

A highly anticipated welterweight scrap between Phil “CM Punk” Brooks (0-0 MMA) and Mickey Gall (2-0 MMA) took place on tonight’s UFC 203 main card in Cleveland, Ohio. Round one begins and Punk comes forward quickly. Gall immediately lands a takedown and begins working some big ground and pound. Gall steps in to side control and then passes to mount. CM Punk scrambles but gives up his back . Mickey flattens Punk out. Phil gets up but Gall is still on his back. Big shots from the top by Mickey. He locks in a rear-naked choke. Punk submits.

A bantamweight scrap between Urijah Faber (33-10 MMA) and Jimmie Rivera (20-1 MMA) took place on tonight’s UFC 203 main card in Cleveland, Ohio. Round one begins and Faber starts things off with a leg kick. He comes in with another but Rivera catches it. Urijah shoots in but Jimmie defends the takedown attempt. Rivera with a nice low kick. Faber is very light on his feet. He lands a front kick to the body of Rivera. Jimmie replies with a leg kick. Faber comes forward and lands a knee. He moves away as Jimmie misses with a wild right. Faber lands a leg kick. Jimmie looks like he is waiting to unload with something. He circles away from Urijah. Faber comes inside and both men connects with short punches. Faber misses with a high kick and Jimmie lands a nice leg kick. Rivera with a left hand that connects. He lands another solid leg kick and then another. Faber presses forward but round one comes to an end before he can connect with any more strikes.

A key women’s bantamweight bout between Jessica Eye (11-6 MMA) and Bethe Correia (10-2 MMA) served as the featured fight of tonight’s UFC 203 prelims in Cleveland, Ohio. Round one begins and Eye lands a big right hand to start. Correia lands back-to-back inside leg kicks. Eye connects with a low kick but misses with a right. Bethe fires back and scores with a crisp right hand. Eye lands a nice right hand. Bethe throws a kick but Jessica catches it and lands a nice counter punch. Jessica is applying the pressure here. She comes forward with a combo and then presses Correia against the cage. Bethe breaks free but looks tentative. Eye with an inside leg kick that lands. Bethe misses with a right hand. Eye presses forward and lands a nice combination. Bethe ducks under a punch and presses Eye against the cage. The Brazilian begins working some short knees against the fence. Eye lands a kick upstairs. Round one comes to an end.

A middleweight tilt between Brad Tavares (14-4 MMA) and Caio Magalhaes (9-3 MMA) took place on tonight’s UFC 203 preliminary card in Cleveland, Ohio. Round one begins and Tavares charges forward with punches and lands a nice leg kick. Magalhaes misses with a kick to the body. Brad lands a nice punch to the mid section of Caio. Tavares and Magalhaes exchange and Brad lands a nice left. Magalhaes shoots in for a single leg and presses Tavares against the fence. Brad is doing a good job of defending so far. He is able to break free and takes the center of the cage. Magalhaes circles and shoots back in for another takedown. He is unsuccessful with the attempt but uses the clinch to push Tavares back against the cage. Round one ends with Caio attempting a takedown.
