Cris Cyborg reportedly less than 10 pounds away from making weight

Throughout the course of the week leading up to ‘UFC Fight Night: Brasilia’ there has been much speculation as to whether or not Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg would be able to make her contracted weight of 140 pounds. Cyborg has been very transparent about the fact that she has been struggling to make the weight-cut. Throughout the course of the week, Cyborg has released several fight week vlogs in which she has given fans an inside look at her troubles cutting weight. As the week has progressed, there has been more and more updates regarding Cyborg’s weight-cut leading up to her fight with Lisa Lansberg this Saturday.
Eddie Alvarez refutes Schaub's claims, says he's training for UFC 205

On Wednesday, BJPenn.com reported on Brendan Schaub’s version of what he heard happened in regards to the Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor fight negotiations for UFC 205. Schaub said on a recent episode of “The Fighter and the Kid” podcast that he heard that UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez was demanding too much in the fight negotiations, to which the UFC was more than happy to figure out a different fight for the champ.

UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez has missed out on a ‘red panty night’ after asking for more money to fight Conor McGregor. Brendan Schaub revealed on the Fighter and the Kid podcast that Alvarez apparently complained to the executives at the UFC and was met with an indignant Joe Silva before the match-maker parted ways with the promotion: “So from what I hear, Eddie Alvarez was complaining to the UFC brass that he wanted more money to fight Conor McGregor. He wanted pay-per-view points, he wanted a certain amount of money. And the UFC, you know Joe Silva’s going out, he goes, ‘You wanna do what? Oh one of the biggest fight card of all time at Madison Square Garden. First time the UFC’s ever been to New York and we’re allowing you to fight Conor McGregor as the main event but you want more money? Nah, I’ll tell you what we’re gonna do. We’re going to pull Conor off, give him a bigger fight. Then, here’s Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Jon Jones, Nate Diaz, and Conor McGregor get dates for NSAC hearing

Thursday afternoon, news broke that the NSAC had scheduled disciplinary hearings for Jon Jones, Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto broke the news, which revealed that the trio would be having a hearing on October 10th. Per Bob Bennett of NSAC, McGregor/Diaz (water bottles) and Jones (failed test) hearings are all scheduled for its meeting on Oct. 10.
Sergio Pettis off next weekend's 'UFC Fight Night: Portland' fight card

With just over a week to go until the UFC hits Portland, Oregon, top ranked UFC flyweight Sergio Pettis has been forced to withdraw from the card. Pettis, who currently sits at #15 on the UFC’s official flyweight rankings, was slated to face #9 ranked flyweight Louis Smolka on the main card of the event. Unfortunately however, he was forced to withdraw from the fight due to a “minor injury” according to his coach, Duke Roufus.

After two brutal wars with ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler, you would think that Rory would have some trepidation over another dogfight. But of course none of that matters to MacDonald, who took to Twitter on Wednesday to request a no holds barred fight in Bellator, one with no judges or weight classes or any regard for safety whatsoever.

Earlier this month in Cleveland Ohio, former WWE champion CM Punk made his highly anticipated UFC debut on the main card of UFC 203. The fight, which took place nearly 2 years after Punk was signed to the UFC, was an extremely short one that saw Gall dominate the fight from bell to bell. Following the fight, the MMA community appeared to be torn on the matter. While some praised Punk for having the guts to step into the Octagon at 37 years old without having any MMA experience, others criticized the Chicago native, as well as the UFC, for the situation.

Later this year, the UFC will have its historic inaugural event in New York when they hit the Madison Square Garden for UFC 205 on November 12th. The event is expected to play host to several high profile matchups including at least one title fight. While there has been no official word yet on a fight which was expected to be between Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez, UFC President Dana White has recently stated that it will be Khabib Nurmagomedov who gets the title shot against Alvarez.
