The latest examples of McGregor’s transcendent fame occurred on the fields of the National Football League, where several football stars were seen doing McGregor’s famous “billionaire strut,” also referred to as the “billy strut” or “power walk.” Though it was admittedly WWE president Vince McMahon who created this strut, McGregor can undeniably be credited with its mainstream popularity.

Throughout the course of fight week leading up to UFC 205, where Conor McGregor was slated to fight Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight championship, McGregor was involved in several backstage altercations with UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. The first incident, which set the stage for the rest of the pair’s run-ins throughout the week came at the UFC 205 press conference, where McGregor stated that he was coming for all the belts on the table, which included Woodley’s welterweight championship.

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate left fight fans stunned when she suddenly announced her retirement in the Octagon following her UFC 205 loss to Raquel Pennington earlier this month. The fight was a tough one for Tate, who dropped a unanimous decision, and was never able to really establish her dominance over the course of the three round fight. The loss made it two straight for Tate, who lost the UFC women’s bantamweight championship at UFC 200 in July to Amanda Nunes when she was rocked and submitted in the very first round.

Fighters like UFC strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk, lightweight veteran Joe Lauzon, and welterweight contender Kamaru Usman said they were thankful for their family, friends and fans.

When it comes to McGregor, there’s generally no grey area; fans and fellow fighters are divided right down the middle as either supporters or haters. UFC light heavyweight Glover Teixeira falls on the supporter side of the spectrum. This Saturday, middleweight contender Derek Brunson will look to extend his streak to six with a win over Australia’s Robert Whittaker. The two middleweights will share the main event honors of the UFC’s latest trip to Melbourne, Australia, which was originally supposed to be headlined by a rematch between Luke Rockhold and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Though Brunson is focused on his bout with Whittaker – and is wary of the risks that bout presents – he is already thinking about who he wants if he’s able to win in Australia. If he has his way, his reward for beating Whittaker will be a rematch with top-contender Yoel Romero.

Undefeated Mike “Platinum” Perry has been making some waves in the UFC in a short amount of time with having two finishing fights in the Octagon. Going into his third UFC competition scheduled for UFC on FOX 22 where he is set to take on Alan “Brahma” Jouban, Perry is setting his goals for a monumental career. “I want to be doing things first like Conor is doing and like BJ Penn before him,” Perry told BJ Penn.com’s Chris Taylor on a recent Rapid Fire segment. “BJ was not a simultaneous champ, but he did win world titles in two weight divisions. In fact, he fought at every weight class! 205 he fought Lyoto Machida at. That is just nuts! BJ Penn is the man. I was so thrilled to hear from him (BJ Penn) and that he loves watching me fight. When I beat Jouban I am going to do a little BJ Penn face-smack.

Earlier this month, on the main card of UFC 205, former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman was on the wrong end of a brutal third round flying knee knockout. Weidman was returning to the Octagon for the first time in nearly a year after being TKOd by Luke Rockhold in the co-main event of UFC 194, where he lost the middleweight championship. The fight was a big one for Weidman, not only would a win in his home state of New York be a memorable moment for ‘The All American’, a win over Yoel Romero would also likely mean the #1 contender spot, and earn him a crack at the middleweight championship. Unfortunately for Weidman, with the fight tied one round each going into the third round, both Weidman and Romero needed to make statements and secure the third round. Excellent fight IQ by Romero resulted in a perfectly placed flying knee, knocking Weidman out, and leaving the New York native on the canvas with a disturbingly large cut on the side of his head.

‘Platinum’ Mike Perry has quickly become one of the most popular fighters in the UFC’s welterweight division. While Perry has only fought in the Octagon twice, it’s not uncommon to see MMA fans on social media discussing Perry, as well as his upcoming fight with Alan Jouban, where Perry hopes to make it 3-straight wins in the Octagon. In his UFC debut, Perry stirred quite a bit of controversy when he faked a handshake Hyun Gyu Lim’s hand at weigh-ins. When Lim extended his hand to shake Perry’s, ‘Platinum’ was quick to pull his hand back and yell “Sike! You thought!” Despite that, Perry went out and left fight fans stunned as he picked up an impressive 1st round KO win.

Earlier this month at UFC 205, top ranked welterweight contender Stephen Thompson stepped into the Octagon in the co-main event of the card with welterweight champion Tyron Woodley for a highly anticipated showdown. The fight was an extremely back and forth one, with Woodley coming out strong in the first round and securing a takedown, landing some brutal ground and pound elbows on Thompson. ‘Wonderboy’ bounced back however, picking apart the champ in the next two rounds, before then being rocked and nearly finished in the fourth round. In the fifth, it was more of the same as Thompson appeared to be edging out the champ in the striking category.

Earlier today, we reported that Conor McGregor’s team said that they would be willing to entertain offers from WWE. If the Irishman were to accept an offer from the pro wrestling organization and step into the ring, he’d be following in the footsteps of another massive MMA star in Ronda Rousey. Rousey made her foray into the pro wrestling world at WrestleMania 31 in March of 2015, when she joined The Rock in the ring for a brief showdown with Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. During this skirmish, Rousey hip tossed Triple H out of the ring, and threatened McMahon with an armbar before chucking her out of the ring as well.
