Though the date and location of the fight remain a mystery, we now know that former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre‘s comeback fight will pit him against UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping. Shortly after this massive – and polarizing – fight was announced, the UFC sat St-Pierre and Bisping down beside each other at a press conference in Las Vegas. During this press conference, St-Pierre was his typical, civil self, while Bisping opted to turn up the trash talk in an attempt to get into his foe’s head.

With a flawless, 13-0 record, and four-straight title defenses to her name, UFC strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk has established herself as one of the most dominant champions in the promotion. As such, Brazil’s Jessica Andrade will have a serious task on her hands when she attempts to dethrone Jedrzejczyk in the co-main event of the stacked UFC 211 this May. Apparently, however, Andrade has already developed a game plan for her upcoming fight with the champ, and that game plan hinges on one key factor: pressure. The talented Brazilian contender explained this strategy in an interview with MMAJunkie.com.

Last weekend, the UFC returned to the combat sports mecca of Las Vegas, Nevada with UFC 209. Regrettably, it did so without the card’s originally planned co-main event, an interim lightweight title fight between streaking contender Tony Ferguson and undefeated Dagestani star Khabib Nurmagomedov. This fight was scrapped on the eve of battle when Nurmagomedov was hospitalized in the midst of his cut down to 155 pounds. Initially, Ferguson seemed quite understanding of Nurmagomedov’s withdrawal from the card. Since then, however, his tone has changed significantly.

When former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre makes his long awaited comeback later this year, it will be to a middleweight title shot, not to a shot at the welterweight belt. That said, the former champ does still pay attention to the division he ruled for so long, and he’s particularly impressed by one welterweight contender in particular: streaking grappling whiz Demian Maia. The former champ showered Maia with praise on Monday’s edition of the MMA Hour. His words:

It has now been several months since Eddie Alvarez’s knockout loss to Conor McGregor, which marked the end of his reign as UFC lightweight champion. Despite the time that’s elapsed since then, he still doesn’t have another fight booked. Alvarez has, however, spoken to the UFC about a few prospective opponents. One of these opponents has been the fan favorite Nate Diaz – an opponent Alvarez said he’d be very interested in. He explained his interest in this fight on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour.

Last Saturday, in the main event of UFC 209, champion Tyron Woodley and challenger Stephen Thompson fought for the UFC welterweight title. Just like their first fight, which occurred back in November and ended with a majority draw, this one was very close, as Woodley walked away with a hotly contested majority decision win. In the wake of this extremely close battle, Demian Maia, who is arguably the top contender in the UFC welterweight division, made an appearance on The MMA Hour and offered his scorecard for the fight. Contrary to the official decision, the Brazilian grappling specialist says he scored the fight for Wonderboy, and speculated that the judges were swayed by Woodley’s surge late in the fifth round.

Last weekend, the UFC returned to the combat sport mecca of Las Vegas, Nevada, with UFC 209. Unfortunately, it made this Vegas return without its originally planned co-main event: an interim lightweight title fight between undefeated Dagestani star Khabib Nurmagomedov, and streaking American contender Tony Ferguson. This fight was cancelled on the eve of battle, when Nurmagomedov was hospitalized, and unable to weigh in for battle as a result. With this unfortunate twist of fate, many fans have called for a rescheduling of this Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson bout. According to three-time UFC title challenger, current Bellator star, and polarizing MMA analyst Chael Sonnen, however, this is not likely to be the way things unfold. Instead, he believes Nurmagomedov has likely lost his opportunity to fight for interim lightweight gold, and therefor his chance to fight undisputed lightweight champ Conor McGregor down the road. That opportunity, Sonnen says, will next go to Nate Diaz – McGregor’s biggest rival.

Last November, in the co-main event of UFC 205, Stephen Thompson stepped into the Octagon to challenge Tyron Woodley for the UFC welterweight title. Unfortunately, the fight ended in a majority draw, which meant Thompson did not become the champion. Last weekend, in the main event of UFC 209, Thompson got a second crack at Woodley. Unfortunately for the challenger, he lost the fight via controversial majority decision, which marked his second failed attempt to unseat the current welterweight king.

With UFC 209 now in the rear-view mirror, the next UFC event on the horizon is UFC Fight Night 106. This event, which will emanate from beautiful Fortaleza, Brazil this Saturday night, will be headlined by a middleweight bout between former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort, and former welterweight contender Kelvin Gastelum.

Last weekend, in the main event of UFC 209, welterweight champion Tyron Woodley defended his title with a majority decision over Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. While Woodley’s win was an important one, however, it was also incredibly close, and fairly unexciting as far as fights go. The slow nature of Woodley’s defeat of Thompson prompted backlash from many members of the MMA community, including UFC President Dana White. Another respected member of the MMA community to chime in on this fight was former welterweight title challenger turned analyst Dan Hardy.

Top UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov took to social media this evening where he delivered an apology to his fans, employer and slated UFC 209 opponent Tony Ferguson for not participating at this weekend’s pay-per-view event in Las Vegas. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, “The Reem” and “The Super Samoan” each received a purse of $750,000 for their efforts last night.

Top UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov missed out on a huge payday at last night’s UFC 209 event in Las Vegas. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto announced on Twitter that “The Eagle” would have made a cool $500,000 win or lose if he had fought Tony Ferguson for the promotions interim lightweight title at UFC 209.

It was exactly one year ago today that perennial lightweight contender Nate Diaz picked up the biggest win of his career by scoring a second-round submission victory over Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 196. McGregor, who was the undisputed UFC featherweight champion at the time, was originally expected to challenge then lightweight title holder Raphael dos Anjos at the event (UFC 196).

Middleweight fighter Dan Kelly (13-1 MMA) improved his UFC record to an impressive 6-1 yesterday in Las Vegas by scoring a split-decision victory over former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans on the UFC 209 main card. Both Evans and Kelly had their own respective moments in the fight, but it seemed that Kelly’s forward pressure and willingness to go after Evans swayed the judges in his favor.
