UFC lightweight champion and former UFC featherweight champion, Conor McGregor may possess some of the best knockout power in the UFC’s 145 or 155 pound divisions. That has lead many to believe that McGregor stood a chance against undefeated boxing icon Floyd Mayweather. On the other hand of course, Floyd Mayweather is one of the greatest boxers of all time, and while the champion has struggled with southpaw opponents in the past, he is by far the most technical opponent McGregor has ever faced.

On April 8, the UFC will take over Buffalo, New York’s Key Arena with UFC 210. In the main event, we’ll see UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier attempt to defend his title against an old foe in Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. The co-main event, meanwhile, will see former middleweight champion Chris Weidman attempt to get back on track against long-time Dutch contender Gegard Mousasi.

Throughout the course of 2017, undefeated boxing icon Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor have continued to be linked to a boxing superfight. The year started with Mayweather offering McGregor $15 million for a boxing superfight, with UFC President Dana White then countering Mayweather’s offer with one of his own. Mayweather of course laughed off the offer, reiterating that he wouldn’t fight for less than $100 million.

Earlier this month, former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw appeared on the Fight Society Podcast to discuss his upcoming showdown with reigning bantamweight champ and former teammate Cody Garbrandt. During this segment, Dillashaw explained that he believes his highly publicized beef with Garbrandt is unnecessary, calling their rivalry “comical.” “The beef with Cody is just comical because it shouldn’t concern him at all,” Dillashaw said. “Just because it involves Urijah [Faber], he wants to get all riled up and fluff out his feathers and act like a tough guy. I expected this from Cody. He’s a hothead and just for him to not really be able to express himself mentally but just get all worked up.”

In a few short weeks, the UFC will touch down in Buffalo, New York with an interesting looking night of fights in UFC 210. In the main event, we’ll see Daniel Cormier attempt to defend the UFC light heavyweight title against an old foe in Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. In the co-main event, meanwhile, Dutch contender Gegard Mousasi will attempt to continue his march toward the middleweight title against former champ Chris Weidman. Weidman will enter this fight on a two-fight losing streak, having been stopped by top-ranked fighters in Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero in his last two fights. In advance of his fight at UFC 210, Weidman has suggested that Mousasi is a well-deserved step down in competition.

Earlier this month, MMA legend Vitor Belfort was mauled by a younger, faster, Kelvin Gastelum. Many fans took this beatdown as a sign that it was time for the aging legend to retire. Belfort himself, however, said he had one more in him. In his post-fight interview, he said he’d like to fulfil the last fight on his contract, ideally at UFC 112 in Rio de Janeiro in June. Belfort also acknowledged that a step down in competition would be nice, which is fair, but then threw the world a bit of a curve ball by calling out CM Punk – a former pro wrestler who was destroyed by Mickey Gall in his only mixed martial arts bout.

Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw is currently in the midst of filming ‘The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption’ opposite nemesis UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt. The pair continued to trade barbs in the media prior to UFC 207, where Garbrandt picked up a dominant unanimous decision win over Dominick Cruz to claim the bantamweight championship. On the same card, TJ Dillashaw picked up a unanimous decision win over John Lineker to be crowned the bantamweight #1 contender. While there was some speculation as to whether or not Cruz would get an immediate rematch, ‘The Dominator’ opted to let Dillashaw get the next bantamweight title fight.

Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw is currently in the midst of filming the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter opposite former teammate, UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt. The pair of course have a very long and very public feud stemming from Dillashaw’s departure from Team Alpha Male, which resulted in he and Team Alpha Male head Urijah Faber engaging in a very bitter public war of words over the matter. After Garbrandt defeated Dominick Cruz to win the bantamweight title at UFC 207-, the newly crowned champion found himself left with the choice to either give Cruz an immediate rematch, or fight Dillashaw to settle the pair’s beef. Ultimately, Cruz chose to allow Dillashaw to have the next title shot, and the UFC decided to cash in on the hype and book both men for the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter.

This week, former MMA fighter War Machine was found guilty by a jury on 29 counts, including sexual assault, battery and kidnapping. With that being said, the jury was hung in regards to the attempted murder charges. With that being said, War Machine will be sentenced on June 5th for the 29 counts he was found guilty of. Now, in the wake of War Machine, real name Jon Koppenhaver, being found guilty, Christy Mack has released a statement on Twitter regarding the situation, saying:

Earlier this week, we learned that long-time UFC light heavyweight contender and TUF season eight winner Ryan Bader had signed with Bellator MMA. The dangerous light heavyweight talent has wasted no time in attempting to book his first fight with the organization, calling out the light heavyweight champ Phil Davis for a fight at Bellator 180 this June 24 in New York City. Luckily for him, Davis seems all for it.

Shortly after this fight, the former women’s bantamweight champion announced her intention to retire from mixed martial arts competition. Stephen Thompson gives updates on injury and resulting surgery

Shortly after his competitive UFC 209 loss to reigning welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, we learned that Stephen Thompson had sustained an injury to his MCL. In an interview with BJPENN.COM’s Chris Taylor, Thompson clarified that, while his MCL was indeed injured, it would not require surgery. He would, however, require surgery for an injured meniscus. “It was the MCL, but the doctors said that injury would heal on its own,” Thompson told Taylor. “I have surgery tomorrow on my right knee. It is nothing too serious, just a torn meniscus.”
Ex-fighter War Machine found guilty on 29 of 34 charges

Over the last few weeks, the trial of Bellator and UFC veteran War Machine (born Jonathan Koppenhaver) has dominated headlines. This trial stemmed from a grisly 2014 incident, during which the former fighter brutalized ex-girlfriend Christy Mac and her then boyfriend Corey Thomas. After several weeks of court proceedings, during which many horrifying details about War Machine’s attack on Mack and Thomas were revealed, the former fighter has now been found guilty on 29 of the 34 charges he faced – most notably of sexual assault, battery and kidnapping. The most severe charges he faced – a pair of attempted murder charges – resulted in a hung jury, meaning the jury was unable to agree on a guilty or not guilty verdict. This in turn, implies a mistrial.
