Yesterday afternoon, news surfaced that Valentina Shevchenko and Sijara Eubanks are likely to battle for the vacant UFC women’s flyweight title in the main event of UFC 230 on November 3. To say the fan reaction was mostly negative would be an understand. On social media, all but a few fans trashed this UFC 230 main event, many of whom felt that Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz should have been allowed to fight for the 165-pound title instead.

UFC President Dana White previously stated that UFC 229, which goes down this Saturday in Las Vegas and will be headlined by a lightweight title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor, was on track to sell a record-breaking 2 million pay-per-views. Now, White says the metrics he monitors ahead of big fights indicate the card could sell close to 3 million pay-per-views.

The news was shocking to many MMA fans, some stating they didn’t even know who she was. While Joe Rogan was recording his podcast when it was announced and said he didn’t even know who Eubanks is.

According to Okamoto’s report, Valentina Shevchenko is likely to battle Sijara Eubanks for the vacant UFC flyweight title in the card’s headliner. BREAKING: Valentina Shevchenko vs. Sijara Eubanks for the vacant flyweight tile will headline UFC 230 on Nov. 3 in Madison Square Garden, per multiple sources.

This massive lightweight title fight between undefeated reigning champion and history-making former champion is dominating the headlines and airwaves, and is likely to continue doing so until well after the fight itself has drawn to a close. Eventually, of course, the Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor buzz will quiet. The loser of the fight will return to the drawing board, tail tucked between their legs, while the winner will march proudly toward their next massive challenge.

This Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 229, undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will attempt to defend his title opposite former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ Conor McGregor. While Khabib Nurmagomedov has faced some strong opposition in the past, such as Rafael dos Anjos, Michael Johnson, and Edson Barboza, Conor McGregor is easily the most dangerous opponent he’s faced over the course of his 26-fight career. The Russian’s head coach, Javier Mendez, is well aware of this fact.

At the UFC 229 pre-fight press conference, which went down late last month in New York City, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor seemed to have a rather nasty looking wound on his finger. Unsurprisingly, many fans began to speculate that McGregor could be dealing with a staph infection or some other issue. Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday, Conor McGregor explained that this injury was no cause for concern. It’s simply a small wound that he sustained when one of his sparring partner’s teeth got “embedded” in his finger.

At the first UFC 229 press conference, which went down late last month in New York City, Conor McGregor did everything he could to get inside the head of his upcoming opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov — though the jury is still out on whether or not he was successful.  Amid his verbal assault on Khabib Nurmagomedov, Conor McGregor even unleashed some scurrilous comments about the Russian’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz.

Former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks, who retired from MMA this summer, is gearing up for bareknuckle fight with former Bellator welterweight contender Brennan Ward. The fight will go down on November 9, in the main event of the debut show from World Bareknuckle Fighting Federation (WBKFF). While this bareknuckle fight is something of an experiment for Johny Hendricks, he says it’s something he’s considering committing to for a while.
