Bellator 212 Results: Michael Chandler defeats Brent Primus (Highlights)

The lightweight belt was on the line in tonight’s Bellator 212 main event as reigning division champion Brent Primus squared off with former title holder Michael Chandler. Michael Chandler had previously surrendered his Bellator lightweight world title to Brent Primus in June of 2017, this after suffering a leg injury that resulted in an eventual TKO.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir returned to action in the co-headliner of tonight’s Bellator 212 event in Hawaii against Javy Ayala. Frank Mir made his Bellator debut this past April, suffering a first-round TKO loss to Fedor Emelianenko.

Originally scheduled to be a vacant lightweight title bout between perennial top contenders in Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson, things would drastically change after a freak injury forced Ferguson out of the fight.

For a brief moment, there was an end to when we would have to stop waiting for Dominick Cruz to return to action. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t last very long as yet another injury postponed his storied career. Having been set to return at UFC 233 on January 26 against John Lineker, a shoulder injury threw the fight into question and after the card’s cancellation as a whole, it appears that the fight won’t be rebooked. At least anytime soon.

So that’s the one I’m hoping for,” he said. “He’s got a fight next, that could get lined up perfectly. So if he wants to do it, I would love to fight a legend like Diego Sanchez. It’s the one I want the most so it’s the one I am pushing for.”
