A great question for any MMA trivia quiz would be; ‘Who handed TJ Dillashaw his first career defeat?’ If you answered with John Dodson, that would be correct. Cast members on season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter in 2011, Dodson represented Team Mayhem while Dillashaw was on Team Bisping.

2018 was a fantastic year of MMA action. Out of all the great fights and performances we saw, none of them happened to include the ‘Ruthless’ former UFC welterweight king, Robbie Lawler. The reason for that being due to a torn ACL suffered in his last fight with Rafael Dos Anjos which took place in December 2017. Lawler would lose the bout via unanimous decision.

UFC 236 is now set to feature two interim title fights. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Max Holloway will be moving up in weight at UFC 236 to take on Dustin Poirier for the UFC’s interim lightweight belt.

As the days go on, the question of when and who Conor McGregor will fight next continues. McGregor last fought at UFC 229 in October, where he took on current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for the belt. The fight marked McGregor’s return to the Octagon after a nearly two year hiatus.

UFC bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw did not agree with his stoppage loss to UFC flyweight champ Henry Cejudo. Ever since the loss, he’s been adamant that the referee intervened too early, and that he should have been given more time recover. Former champ Dominick Cruz, one of Dillashaw’s chief rivals, isn’t impressed with these complaints. “I look at this and say, is this how insignificantly stupid you are?” Cruz said on the the UFC Unfiltered podcast (transcript via MMA Fighting). “To think you complaining and whining about a stoppage is gonna change anything? You just sound like a moron. Like, nothing is gonna change. You might as well just accept what just happened to you and try to grab a hold of your balls instead of run from them and admit the loss. Because you just got knocked out by a [125er]. And you dropped down to a weight class that dried out your brain and you might not have been as durable as you are at 135.”

UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley has been chasing a fight with Georges St-Pierre for years. Now that St-Pierre is retired, however, it would seem to be forever off the table. Speaking to TMZ shortly after St-Pierre’s retirement message, Tyron Woodley revealed that he approached the UFC about a fight with the Canadian legend multiple times, but that St-Pierre turned it down each time.

Last Sunday night at UFC Phoenix, former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez returned to the cage after nearly three years away, where he battled fearsome heavyweight knockout artist Francis Ngannou. While this fight went rather disastrously for Velasquez — he was stopped in less than thirty seconds and injured his knee — he was at least well compensated for his efforts.

Liz Carmouche last fought in July of 2018 and wanted to return sooner. She will finally get that chance on Saturday when the UFC makes its debut in the Czech Republic. “I’m ready to fight,” Carmouche said to BJPENN.com. “That’s what I’m looking forward to. I haven’t fought since July and I have been nagging the UFC. I have tried to get booked well before but I’m excited to finally be able to go out there and do what I do.”

It took the UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov a few months after his massive title defending win over Conor McGregor at UFC 229 to finally receive his fine and suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC). Of course, the punishments came in response to the post-fight scuffle that ensued following the fight between both Nurmagomedov and McGregor’s camps.

That of which includes the two seemingly unbeatable fighters in former bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and former featherweight champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino. The list goes on, of course.

Georges St-Pierre is now officially retired. As expected, the Canadian MMA legend announced the end of his fighting career at a Thursday morning press conference at the Bell Centre in Montreal., the very same arena he fought in so many times. In the wake of this news, many top fighters took to social media to offer Georges St-Pierre messages of respect and congratulations. Not everybody, however, has love for the former welterweight and middleweight champ.
