Chris Taylor - September 22, 2017

A light heavyweight showdown between Ovince Saint Preux and Yushin Okami served as the main event of tonight’s UFC Fight Night 117 card from Japan. Round one begins and Okami shoots in and attempts to pull guard. He attempts to sweep but Saint Preux wraps his arms around the neck of Yushin and winds up falling in to half guard. “OSP” begins working some shots to body. He looks to lock in a Von Flue choke and he does. This is tight. Okami goes to sleep. Wow! Impressive stuff from Saint Preux.

This Saturday, the UFC will touch down in the MMA hotspot of Japan with UFC Fight Night 117. Originally, the card was expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight scrap between PRIDE legend Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and his former foil Ovince Saint Preux. Unfortunately, the injury bug enjoyed its latest feast at the expense of this main event, and Shogun was forced to bow out with a damaged knee. Shogun’s replacement for this fight was a definite shocker. Rather than sifting through its sizeable light heavyweight roster for a new opponent for Ovince Saint Preux, the UFC opted to call on former UFC middleweight title challenger and recent World Series of Fighting welterweight Yushin Okami.

OSP Wants to Know if Jon Jones Was on PEDs When They Fought

Justin Golightly - September 8, 2017

Ovince Saint Preux is about to gear up and fight Mauricio “Shogun” Rua  in Japan, but there is another fight still in the back of his mind. Back at UFC 197, Saint Preux jumped in to replace Daniel Cormier and fought Jon Jones for an interim UFC light heavyweight title. Losing the bout and suffering a broken arm in the process, OSP took the loss hard but moved on. However, the recent controversy over Jon Jones’ drug test has all of the feelings rushing back. Was Jones’ allegedly on performance enhancing drugs during their fight as well? Saint Preux wants to know the answers. “I mean, I did an article a while back saying, I just wanted [Jon Jones] to tell the truth. But at the end of the day, with me, I just wanted to know. But at the end of the day, what can I do about it? It’s a situation where I’ve learned, especially like my fight when I fought Volkan. You know, I walked in the locker room and I caught myself screaming, and I was like, why am I mad for? I mean, I did everything I did, I poured my heart out in the fight, you know, I trained hard, I felt like I won the fight.”

UFC reportedly considering shocking potential catchweight fight for Anderson Silva

bjpenndotcom - April 27, 2017

Recently, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva found himself without an opponent for his UFC 212 scrap after streaking contender Kelvin Gastelum was forced out of the fight with a USADA violation stemming from a failed fight night drug test for marijuana. As a result, the UFC has been seeking a replacement opponent for Anderson Silva. According to reports, Silva has turned down fill-in fights against former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, and middleweight #1 contender Yoel Romero. In addition, Silva shut down the possibility of a rematch with Vitor Belfort.

Ovince Saint Preux tells Light Heavyweights to stop being scared

bjpenndotcom - March 16, 2016

About a month ago OSP picked up a win over Rafael Cavalcante. This would be his 19th professional win. Obviously Saint Preux is anxious to get back in the cage. “I get it, guys in my division are scared to fight me,” Saint Preux told MMAFighting.com, “I get that. I’m breaking people’s arms and choking people out with stuff they ain’t ever seen. But c’mon [UFC matchmaker] Joe [Silva] make someone man up and fight me. “Gustafsson, Bader, Manuwa and Latifi don’t have fights lined up. I’d love to rematch Bader, because he’s a great fighter and he’s not afraid of anyone. If not those guys, how about Josh Barnett or Travis Browne? I know those guys in the heavyweight division aren’t afraid to throw down.”
