Movsar Evloev was nearly forced out of his fight at UFC London, and the reason wasn’t travel visa issues as once feared.
Undefeated UFC featherweight Movsar Evloev had a wild buildup to his fight with Lerone Murphy at UFC London last weekend. Just days before the event, Evloev had trouble getting to London due to visa issues, but the talented fighter resolved them just in time for fight night.
In pre-fight media interviews, Evloev hinted at additional issues that he dealt with ahead of the Murphy fight. Evloev went on to defeat Murphy by majority decision, despite having a point deducted due to a low blow midway through the fight.
Fighters usually deal with bumps and bruises during training camps, especially those training for five-round main events. Ahead of UFC London, Evloev suffered a brutal injury that threatened his availability for the card.

Luckily, Evloev’s cardio didn’t appear to be impacted in his fight with Murphy last Saturday. The undefeated UFC featherweight contender is UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski’s next opponent, barring a surprising move by the matchmakers.
Evloev has had an unusual road to the UFC featherweight title shot in recent years. In between impressive wins over the likes of Diego Lopes, Aljamain Sterling, and others, Evloev has dealt with fight cancellations and injuries during his hiatuses.
While Volkanovski remains adamant that Evloev deserves the next title shot, UFC featherweight Jean Silva recently claimed he had signed a deal to fight Volkanovski later this year, although nothing’s been announced by the UFC as of this writing. In the meantime, Evloev is waiting in the wings for a shot at becoming a UFC champion.
