Mohammed Usman vs. Valter Walker Bolsters UFC Rio

Valter Walker is next competing at UFC Rio and is lined up for an intriguing heavyweight tilt. Walker will clash with Mohammed Usman in Rio de Janeiro on October 11th. ‘The Clean Monster’ was born in Rio and will undoubtedly be the partisan favorite against Usman in the coming weeks.
Both men have famous fighting brothers with Valter Walker being the half brother of Johnny Walker and Mohammed Usman being the brother of former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
After a loss on points during his first octagon walk, Walker has put together a three fight winning streak in the UFC since that initial blemish. That trifecta of victories came by way of the same outcome as Walker secured first-round, heel hook finishes across all of those wins.
Walker enters the cage in the Fall as the number fourteen ranked heavyweight contender and has a true “don’t blink or you’ll miss it” kind of approach as evidenced by his sub-one minute finish in his last outing. Usman won the heavyweight tournament on the 30th season of The Ultimate Fighter and has since put together a 4-2 record inside the UFC cage.
Mohammed Usman vs. Valter Walker UFC Rio overview
Valter Walker has held the Titan FC heavyweight belt, the MMA Series heavyweight title, and Arena Global heavyweight champion. He looks to keep climbing the UFC rankings to one day ideally add a UFC belt to that mantle.
Usman enters the fight unranked but has a chance to crack the top fifteen with a win here considering Walker’s current place in the divisional hierarchy. The former PFL vet has notched multiple UFC wins with Usman defeating Zac Pauga, Junior Tafa, Jake Collier, and most recently Hamdy Abdelwahab to snap a two fight losing skid to Mick Parkin and Thomas Petersen.
UFC Rio is headlined by former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira taking on the consistently entertaining contender Rafael Fiziev.
