Michael Page is hoping to get a more exciting fight next time out.

Page is coming off a decision win over Sam Patterson at UFC London in a lackluster fight. Neither man threw many strikes, as Page landed just 27 strikes to Patterson’s 12. Fans booed throughout the fight, and Page admits the way Patterson fought him was frustrating.

So, after the win, Michael Page said his goal is to be a UFC champion, and he wants a more exciting fight next time out, as he wants an opponent who will go after him.

“I personally am looking at the belt,” Page said to Ariel Helwani. “I know it’s not going to happen in the next fight, so I need to be here longer. For the next fight, give me someone who wants to come and kill me. I want someone who’s going to take my head off so we can have a proper fight and I can showcase my skills. I don’t care where — just give me a big name, and let me put them to bed in MVP fashion.”

Who that opponent would be for Page is uncertain, but he knows his next fight will be more entertaining than his bout at UFC London.

Michael Page admits that Sam Patterson frustrated him

Although Page has yet to get a finish in the UFC, he thought his bout against Patterson could be that.

Yet, Page put the blame on Patterson for the lackluster bout, as he thought his foe wasn’t too interested in facing him.

“There were things I was met with in the cage that I didn’t think I would face,” Page said. “Patterson was a bit more on his back foot, and I actually really wanted to be aggressive in this fight. I didn’t readjust or rethink how to work it out. How to press, how to close the gap.

I was actually getting frustrated, and I think this is the first time someone’s gotten me frustrated in the cage. I was looking at myself and thinking, I need to do way better. It wasn’t good enough. Fans have expectations of me, but I have massive expectations of myself — and I didn’t deliver.”

With the win at UFC London, Michael Page is 25-3 and is 4-1 in the UFC.
