Michael Chandler believes he will end up fighting at the White House.

Chandler had been calling to fight at the White House against Conor McGregor, yet Dana White recently shot that down. He didn’t think that fight made sense, nor did he think McGregor would fight at that event.

However, Michael Chandler is still hopeful he can fight at the White House and plans to steal the show if he does.

“Obviously, as Dana and they have said, they’re gonna start that matchmaking (Monday, Jan. 26) talking about the White House card,” Chandler said at UFC 324 (h/t MMAJunkie). “Everyone knows that’s what my sights are set on. Best-case scenario: It’s me and Conor. Worst-case scenario: I’m still fighting at the White House, fighting someone else, and it will be an awesome, badass matchup. And I will steal the show, and I will end up with one of those bonuses.”

Who Chandler would fight at the White House is uncertain, but he’s confident he will be able to compete at the historic card.

Dana White shoots down Michael Chandler vs. Conor McGregor

Chandler’s original plan was to fight McGregor at the event, but White doesn’t have much interest in that fight.

“No disrespect to Chandler. We love Chandler. You don’t have enough time in your show for me to talk to you about how awesome Chandler is,” White said on The Pat McAfee Show. “You know how I feel about Conor and everything that he’s done for the sport and this company. But yeah, that’s not the fight we’re going with.”

It’s no doubt disappointing for Chandler, who had been holding out for the McGregor, especially after the two filmed TUF against one another. However, it appears that the ship has sailed, and Chandler won’t be fighting McGregor at the White House.
