It has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? If a petition created by UK MMA fans is successful, that’s what we’ll soon be calling the former UFC middleweight champ.

Here’s how the petition’s creators justify their mission to get Bisping knighted:

“Michael Bisping is the UK’s No.1 mixed martial arts fighter who competed in the Middleweight division of the UFC. A professional competitor since 2004, he is a former UFC Middleweight Champion, a former Cage Rage Light Heavyweight Champion and The Ultimate Fighter 3 Light Heavyweight tournament winner. At UFC 78, he became the first British fighter to compete in a UFC main event. At UFC 199, he became the first British fighter to win a UFC Championship. He remains the sole British winner of a UFC belt. His final martial arts record stood at a record breaking of 39-9.

Bisping transcended the sport of MMA and took up acting. He has starred in such movies as ‘xXx: The Return of Xander Cage’, starring alongside Vin Diesel, and as the infamous Roy “Pretty Boy” Shaw in ‘My Name Is Lenny’. He even had a small role in David Lynch’s ‘Twin Peaks’.

Michael Bisping has established himself as one of the most successful and longest tenured fighters in UFC history while also becoming a pioneer for MMA in the United Kingdom. He is an inspiration for young fighters around the country and this should be recognised with a knighthood.

All hail The Count!”

If you’re a UK fan, and this sounds like the kind of cause you’d be willing to get behind, check out the petition here. At the time of this writing, the petition is only a few hundred signatures shy of its 2000 signature goal.

Do you think the Queen of England will answer fight fans’ calls and knight the former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping?
