Max Holloway eyeing Octagon return in May or June

Max Holloway has become a fan favorite fighter, and has quickly climbed his way to the top of the UFC’s featherweight ladder with an 8-fight win streak.

Holloway’s last loss came at the hands of UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor back in 2013. Since then, Holloway has won 8 fights in 2 years including wins over Cub Swanson and Jeremy Stephens.

Following his UFC 194 win over Jeremy Stephens, Holloway was forced to undergo surgery on his thumb, and has been out of action since. While it’s only been two months, Holloway is eager to return to the Octagon once his thumb is healed.

He spoke at last weekend’s ‘UFC Fight Night: Vegas’ event, as transcribed by UFC.com:

“I heard there are cards early June, late May, so I want to get on one of those cards and we’ll see what happens,” Holloway said backstage at last weekend’s UFC event in Las Vegas, speculating about his return just a few days before doctors would remove the cast protecting his surgically repaired thumb. “Before we put on the cast, (the doctor) said it would probably be a month of rehab, so pretty fast.

“I want to get this taken care of and get right back into the mix. If you don’t fight for too long, people start forgetting who you are.”

Holloway has previously called for a fight with a top 3 opponent. With the only men ranked higher than ‘Blessed’ being Chad Mendes (#3), Frankie Edgar (#2), and Jose Aldo (#1), who do you want Holloway to face?
