Kyle Nelson expect to ‘pick’ Terrance McKinney ‘apart’ at UFC Seattle: ‘He will get frustrated’

Kyle Nelson is excited to get the chance to face Terrance McKinney at UFC Seattle.
Nelson was hoping to fight on the next Canada card, but when he got the call to fight Terrance McKinney, he jumped at the chance to accept.
“It was roughly the timeline,” Nelson said on Just Scrap Radio on BJPENN.com. “I knew the UFC was coming to Canada, so I was aiming for the Canada card. I got this fight, and I loved the matchup, so we took it.”
Although Nelson will be going into enemy territory to face McKinney at UFC Seattle, he said that won’t bother him. He is also excited for the fight as he believes McKinney is a great matchup for him.
“Very excited. He’s one of the guys that, as soon as you hear his name, you remember his fights,” Nelson said. “Even though he isn’t in the top-15, he’s still a household name. I like this style, and I think I have a lot of answers for his style. It’s a good matchup for me, and it will help me climb the lightweight rankings.”
Kyle Nelson expects to finish Terrance McKinney at UFC Seattle
With Kyle Nelson liking the matchup, he’s confident he won’t just win, but will finish McKinney.
Nelson believes McKinney’s wild and chaotic style leaves him open, and the Canadian expects to capitalize.
“I think he will do what he always does, and I’m far too durable,” Nelson said. “My defense is too tight for him to get anything in. He gets wild and so open that there will be opportunities for me to land something big. …
“He’s going to come forward, and we will see if I tag him early and how he reacts to that. I definitely see him coming forward early, and he will get frustrated that he won’t be able to land the big shots, and I will be able to pick him apart. The longer the fight goes, the more I am going to pick him apart. I don’t see it going the distance.”
Should Nelson get the win, he could be near the lightweight ranks. However, he said he doesn’t care about that as he’s just focused on staying active and winning fights.
“I don’t pay too much attention to the rankings. I don’t know how that works. Lightweight is a pretty stacked division. It doesn’t make that much of a difference if I’m 15 or 16. I’m in it to win fights and hopefully one day win a championship,” Nelson concluded.
