Current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (26-0 MMA) will look to make his first ever title defense a successful one when he takes on Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229.

The undefeated Russian, Nurmagomedov, captured the UFC’s vacant lightweight title at April’s UFC 223 event in Brooklyn by defeating Al Iaquinta via unanimous decision.

“The Eagle” has utilized his superior grappling skills to go a perfect 10-0 under the UFC banner, which includes four stoppage victories (two knockouts and two submissions).

As expected, Khabib Nurmagomedov plans to once again use his phenomenal wrestling in his upcoming title fight with former division champion Conor McGregor at UFC 229 on October 6 in Las Vegas.

“My plan is to make him flat, make him tired and make him give up!” – Khabib Nurmagomedov

The product of Dagestan, Nurmagomedov believes that Conor McGregor’s lone chance of winning at UFC 229 comes in the form of a “lucky punch“.

As for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s UFC 229 opponent, former UFC featherweight and lightweight champ Conor McGregor is equally confident in the lead up to their highly anticipated fight on October 6.

“Mystic Mac” recently took to Twitter where he proclaimed himself as the modern day Bruce Lee.

“First it was Bruce Lee. Now it is Conor Mac.” – Conor McGregor

The Irish superstar, McGregor, has not competed inside the octagon since UFC 205 in November of 2016 where he defeated Eddie Alvarez via second-round knockout to capture the UFC’s coveted lightweight title.

Conor McGregor has since been stripped of both his featherweight and lightweight UFC titles due to inactivity.

With that said, “Mystic Mac” made a fortune last summer this after he took to the squared circle for a mega fight with boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
