Conor McGregor vs. Justin Gaethje is a title fight that is quite intriguing to the former two-time UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya. In the wake of UFC Freedom 250, Justin Gaethje pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport by finally becoming the divisional kingpin of 155 pounds. The man who previously captured interim lightweight gold two times became the lineal champ outright when he stopped the previously unbeaten Ilia Topuria inside the distance on June 14th.

A former UFC lightweight champion is making his return next month, and while Conor McGregor is having a sequel clash with Max Holloway at welterweight for the UFC 329 headliner, there are some who are intrigued by the notion of ‘The Notorious’ returning to 155 pounds someday. Post-UFC Freedom 250 in conversation with Demetrious Johnson on Johnson’s YouTube channel Mighty, Adesanya said,

“I think [Justin] Gaethje is sitting front side at the Max [Holloway] vs Conor [McGregor fight] in Vegas. He’s already got the story with Max, wants revenge. But also Conor and Gaethje would feed families, it’d feed f***ing countries.”

Conor McGregor is also keen on a future fight with Justin Gaethje

Conor McGregor is also finding himself enticed by the prospect of a Justin Gaethje bout in the wake of his dismantling of Ilia Topuria last weekend. This was mentioned by the former two-division UFC champion during a recent interview on The Ariel Helwani Show ahead of his aforementioned rematch with Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway in July. McGregor stated [via BJPenn.com],

“When Gaethje is on, he’s good, he’s okay. But when he’s off, he’s atrocious. I fancy him, handily. I fancy teeing off on Gaethje. And with [Islam Makhachev], there’s history there, and I know he’s fighting a fellow Irish man who I’ve trained with and know. I’m open to it! For sure. I’m open for either.”
