“I’m starting to realize the hype is real with that guy. He’s legit, [it] would be the challenge of a lifetime,” is what former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones tweeted when a fan asked how he thinks he would do in a fight against heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.

Following Miocic’s first successful title defense at UFC 203 over Alistair Overeem that took place this past weekend in his hometown of Cleveland Ohio, Miocic responded to Jon Jones comments about a potential matchup between the two.
“Listen, I’ll fight whoever. Man, he’s a great guy, we’ve talked before, very nice guy to me,” Miocic told TMZ after hearing what Jones tweet. “Hey, listen right now I’m not worried about it. Just going to chill, hang out with the wife, we’re moving into a new house in a couple of weeks so it’s all good.”
Days before his UFC 200 light heavyweight title unification bout against champion Daniel Cormier, it was revealed that “Bones” tested positive for banned substances and was pulled from the July 9 fight. Jones is currently on a temporary suspension while he goes through “a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.” When Miocic was asked if he had a problem being matched up with Jones after the numerous issues that Jones has had outside of the Octagon, none of them seemed to have bothered the heavyweight champ too much.
“No man listen, like I said, I’ll fight whoever they want me to fight,” Miocic said. “If they want me to fight Jon, I’ll fight Jon, or whoever they want me to fight next — Cain [Velasquez] JDS [Junior dos Santos], [Fabricio] Werdum, I don’t care.
“Right now, I’m just going to let the body heal a little bit. I’m a little tired.”
