REPORT: Jon Jones could return sooner than thought

bjpenndotcom - October 21, 2016

Jon Jones was unceremoniously pulled from a milestone event in UFC 200 after USADA flagged him for a positive drug test. Just days before he was set to rematch Daniel Cormier to unify the light heavyweight belts, Jones was forced off the card and replaced with Anderson Silva, who stepped in following Jones’ failed drug test. Recent revelations however suggest that Jones may not have been misleading when they blamed the failed tests on tainted supplements.

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will defend his title in a rematch with Anthony “Rumble” Johnson this December at UFC 206 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The pair first met at UFC 187 in May of 2015, with “DC” emerging victorious by way of third-round submission (rear-naked choke).

Jon Jones put the light heavyweight division on notice!

Chris Taylor - October 20, 2016

Jon “Bones” Jones (22-1 MMA) is currently on the sidelines waiting to receive punishment from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), this for his failed pre-fight drug test from UFC 200 this past July. The pound-for-pound great has been rather silent on social media in recent weeks, but that all changed yesterday evening when Jones took to Twitter and put the entire light heavyweight division on notice.

UFC 206 Headliners Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson Agree Former Champ Jon Jones is no Longer Relevant

Tom Taylor - October 19, 2016

On December 10, in the main event of UFC 206, Daniel Cormier will attempt to defend the UFC light heavyweight title against streaking contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. Cormier will enter the bout having recently defeated middleweight great Anderson “The Spider” Silva in a last-minute, non-title light heavyweight showdown on the main card of UFC 200. Rumble, meanwhile, will enter the fight with three straight knockout victories behind him, having recently snuffed Jimi Manuwa, Ryan Bader, and most recently, former title challenger Glover Teixeira. Whoever emerges as the victor of this bout will stand out as the bona fide best light heavyweight currently competing in the UFC.

Jon Jones NSAC hearing postponed

bjpenndotcom - October 5, 2016

It looks as though the MMA community will have to wait longer for the return of pound for pound kingpin, interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. After it was revealed last month that Jones would be appearing in front of the NSAC on October 10th along with Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor, who could be facing repercussions for their UFC 202 water bottle fight, many expected Jones to return to the Octagon sooner rather than later given that UFC President Dana White previously stated that Jones’ appeal process was going well.

Why We'll Still Miss Jon Jones at UFC 205

Tom Taylor - September 27, 2016

UFC 205, which is scheduled for November 12 in New York City, is quickly emerging as one of the greatest fight cards in MMA history. So long as it isn’t ravaged by injuries or PED-busts – knock on wood – it might actually take that title outright. The card, which will emanate from Madison Square Garden – the setting of such iconic boxing matches as Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier 1 and Lennox Lewis vs. Evander Holyfield – has been packed to the rafters with some of the UFC’s very best talent.

Daniel Cormier on Jones' Interim Title: Take That Freakin' Belt off of Him

Tom Taylor - September 14, 2016

Jon Jones is the greatest light heavyweight on the world – but he is not the light heavyweight champion. Instead, Jones’ many recent legal woes resulted in his being stripped of the UFC light heavyweight title, which was claimed by long-time rival Daniel Cormier in his stead. Earlier this year, of course, it looked like Jones was ready to turn things around.

bjpenndotcom - September 10, 2016

Former UFC light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones has been away from the Octagon for quite some time. After being slated to fight Daniel Cormier in a highly anticipated rematch for the UFC light heavyweight championship in the main event of UFC 200, all signs pointed to Jones making his return to the Octagon on July 9th. Unfortunately, ‘Bones’ was pulled from the card just two days before the event when it was revealed that he had failed a random out-of-competition drug test back in June.

Gustafsson Interested in Jones Rematch, But Not to Settle Their Score

Tom Taylor - September 4, 2016

Back in 2013, former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and number-one-contender Alexander Gustafsson engaged in an unforgettable war for the ages. In the end, Jones would walk away with a unanimous decision win, though many parties believed Gustafsson had done enough to steal the title. Today, Jones is neck-deep in a complicated stretch that has seen him detained for a laundry list of crimes, stripped of his UFC title, and suspended for failing a USADA-administered drug test. Gustafsson, meanwhile, fought yesterday, rebounding from a two-fight skid by defeating a game Jan Blachowicz.

Chris Taylor - August 27, 2016

Following Anthony Johnson’s brutal 13-second knockout victory over Glover Teixeira in the co-main event of UFC 202, many fans and analysts expected that “Rumble’s” next fight would be a title bout against current champ Daniel Cormier. However, shortly after Johnson’s blistering uppercut victory, UFC president Dana White shocked fans by stating that he liked the idea of a fight between Anthony Johnson and Jon Jones as opposed to a rematch between “Rumble” and “DC”.
