Don’t look now, but steroid metabolites have once again been found in the system of UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Jon Jones was drug tested in competition by Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA) in the lead up to his UFC 232 rematch with Alexander Gustafsson.

Anthony Smith, who is expected to challenge Jon Jones for the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 235 on March 2, has some questions about the champion’s recent drug tests, several of which of turned up traces of the banned substance ‘turinabol.’ “I think that the definition of a clean fighter has become mighty grey in the last six months,” Smith said on the latest episode of Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show (transcript via MMA Mania). “And it didn’t used to be like that, it was pretty black and white.”

After all the controversy that surrounded UFC 232 back in December, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has received some good news. According to Brett Okamoto of ESPN, Jones was tested on fight night (December 29) and the results of those tests were clean. The most important detail of these test results, which were made public by California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster, is that no traces of the M3 metabolite were found in Jones’ system.

Prior to his success in MMA, Volkanovski was a rugby player. During his rugby days, he apparently weighed more than 210 pounds — pretty incredible considering he hit the 145-pound mark at the UFC 232 weigh ins.
