Gilbert Burns doesn’t think Belal Muhammad deserves a welterweight title shot.

Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns

Burns and Muhammad fought last May in the co-main event of UFC 288, with Muhammad winning a clear-cut five-round decision. Since then, neither Muhammad nor Burns has fought as ‘The Remember The Name’ is looking to fight for the belt next time out. However, Burns doesn’t think Muhammad should get the next title shot.

“I know the UFC has to put on the best fights. I don’t think honestly Belal Muhammad deserves to fight for the title, but honestly, I’m not intrigued,” Burns said to MiddleEasy.

Following Burns’ comments, Belal Muhammad took to social media and clapped back at the Brazilian in several tweets.

“He even cried his win against masvidal accusing him of greasing … keep holding on to the glory of losing a close fight to khamzat… This bum has done nothing. But cry since losing I took the fight off the couch because I knew you suck and it would be easy… Because I dropped him with a jab in the first round and he couldn’t strike with me so he tried to shoot but he sucks and I’m way stronger than him and broke his shoulder with my hip… Fighters get hurt in fights Brian Ortega literally twisted his ankle before the fight and still won only difference is burns just sucks,” Muhammad wrote in several tweets.

After taking aim at Gilbert Burns saying he sucks, Belal Muhammad also gave some advice to Jack Della Maddalena who faces the Brazilian at UFC 299 on March 9.

“Yo jdm keys to beating this bum is just jabbing him and defending his mediocre takedowns,” Muhammad said about Burns.

Although Belal Muhammad has been waiting for a title shot, it’s uncertain if he will get the next shot, as according to a report ‘Remember The Name’ wasn’t one of the three opponents that Leon Edwards was offered to fight at UFC 300. But, Muhammad seems adamant he will get the next title shot and defeat the Brit.

“Only looking ahead Leon in June first title defense Shavkat in October,” Muhammad added.

Belal Muhammad is currently 23-3 and one No Contest and coming off a 10-fight unbeaten streak. On this run, Muhammad has wins over Burns, Sean Brady, Vicente Luque, Stephen Thompson, and Demian Maia among others.
