Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is currently gearing up for his highly anticipated Octagon return against Michael Bisping, where he will look to make his successful return to the Octagon and capture the UFC middleweight championship. During an episode of UFC Embedded prior to UFC 209, where Khabib Nurmagomedov was scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson for the interim lightweight title, St-Pierre introduced himself to Nurmagomedov, who revealed to fans that his father believes a superfight with Georges St-Pierre is the ultimate fight for ‘The Eagle’.
Interestingly enough, St-Pierre posted a photo of himself at dinner with Nurmagomedov in Moscow while in town coaching one of his Tristar teammates in his upcoming MMA fight.
As stated previously, Nurmagomedov was recently scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson at UFC 209 for the interim lightweight title, however the Russian superstar was forced out of the fight the morning of weigh-ins after he was taken to the hospital and given IV fluids due to blood not being supplied to his liver.
St-Pierre on the other hand of course is supposed to be gearing up for his middleweight title fight with Michael Bisping, however Bisping recently stated that if St-Pierre isn’t ready to fight by July, he will give the middleweight title fight to Yoel Romero:
“If he’s not ready then I guess Yoel Romero gets his title shot! Listen I am not afraid of Yoel Romero. If GSP wants to fight then of course, there is a great storyline there. The fight would do great business. But I am not willing to sit around and he’s not calling the shots. I am the champ.”
