Throughout the course of 2017, news has continued to surface regarding the highly anticipated return of former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre. While it was announced earlier this year that GSP had signed a new multi-fight deal with the UFC, UFC President Dana White revealed this week that St-Pierre would be stepping into the Octagon against Michael Bisping in 2017 for Bisping’s middleweight title.
While Georges St-Pierre‘s move up to middleweight will certainly be an interesting one, fight fans will have to patiently await more news regarding when that fight will take place. In the meantime however, St-Pierre is currently in Las Vegas backstage at UFC 209. There are several potential reasons as to why St-Pierre is at UFC 209.
In the video above, you can see St-Pierre trying on his official Reebok Fight Kit during a photoshoot before then going and wishing Khabib Nurmagomedov the best of luck in his UFC 209 co-main event scrap with Tony Ferguson. In addition to being at UFC 209 for his Fight Kit photoshoot, St-Pierre could very well be keeping a close eye on Saturday’s main event scrap between UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and his former teammate, Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, who St-Pierre has praised as the greatest striker he’s ever seen.
Of course, St-Pierre also is gearing up for his Friday afternoon press conference with Michael Bisping, where the former welterweight kingpin will field questions from media members publicly for the first time since the announcement of his return to the UFC.
Check out the video of St-Pierre in his fight kit in Episode 5 of UFC 209 Embedded above.
In addition to St-Pierre’s feature in the episode, you can also see the UFC 209 Media Day staredowns between the fighters, as things get rather intense when Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson come face to face.
